Guest guest
I just? HAD to share our bunny story here, maybe it will make you feel better. . .. maybe not LOL.? We left Willow, our 3 year old bunny, in the care of my sister-in-law as we went to Florida with the kids.? She had brought over her new puppy and it spooked Willow, who jumped through a space between a dining room chair and the leg of the table, snapping his hind leg as he went.? I came home to find him behind the couch (he was a house bunny, no cage) shivering and clearly not well with a dangling leg.? It's a Saturday, off to the Emergency bunny Vet.? It's clearly broken (clean break of both leg bones) and she splints it until the next day.? Off to Cornell Veterinary hospital for emergent setting.? They take him back and place a cast, YES an actual cast, from his hip all the way to is foot.? I take him? back every week for an x-ray to be sure it's healing, all looks good.? The final visit to have the cast removed has arrived, but during the night, Willow seems off.? They take him for his x-ray and come back with grim faces and tell me the fracture has become an open break and he is septic.? He needs and emergency amputation from the hip down.? 3 days in the ICU for high dose antibiotics and recovery from a 3 hours surgery, removal of one leg, 6 weeks of casting and x-rays and a bill of $1500 (for a $10 rabbit).? I take him home, but have to feed him a special ICU diet by syringe every 2 hours around the clock, check his bandages and lift his butt as he relieves himself.? It was a very, very, very long week but in the end, he did fine.? He was no longer able to be a house bunny and he had to be caged.? He seemed depressed, so we got him a little girl bunny.? We tried to put them together, but she attacked him, so we pay $200 to have her spayed.? Back home to try again, no luck.? Now we have to buy another cage, since she likes to eat the cords.? Willow still seems depressed, but have come to the conclusion that he's just going to have to snap out of it, because I'm NOT buying him another rabbit friend!? That was 6 years ago. Willow passed away last year about this time and Sara (the girl rabbit) is still with us and going strong.? SIGH.? LOL So that's our bunny story.? Take Care and God Bless, ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever.
