Guest guest
I asked last week if anyone knew about a needle set that was set up like the soft set/sert but was used for 3 locations instead of 1. My son was increased from 13 ml to 16 ml vivagloben last week and they recommended we use 2 sites. The pharmacy couldn't find the soft set for 2 or 3 sites they only have the one where the needle remains in. I know people posted that they are using these and I would be grateful if you could let me know what you packaging says. My pharmacy Critical Care said they would get what ever I need but they couldn't find these and if I could get a part number from someone already using it that would be great. In the meantime, viva said we could do the 16 mls in one site, which we did on Friday night. It extended the skin pretty tight, but he had no other site reaction. My husband is switching over to SUBQ viva this week so he and can do infusions together and he would also prefer the set up where the needle backs out. is doing so much better with the routine of getting stuck, he never really did IVIG but for the first time, so this is all new to him. He can't wait till he gets to stick Daddy on Friday night, and Daddy gets 3 needles. What a great moment for the scrapbook. Thanks in advance, Michele

Guest guest
Michele, I don't use sof-set but, I think, there are " extension " sets that will allow you to assemble something (add " legs " ) yourself. You may want to call: http://www.norfolkmedical.com/ I use their sets (love them) and their extension sets. Don't know if they are compatible with the other sets but you could ask...and ask for free samples of their 2 and 3 legged 6mm sets...if you're interested. Guest guest
Michele, I was instructed that with kids you could infuse 15 ml per site. I use a double site for as he gets 20 mls of Gammagard. We did Viva for a while, but got more site reactions from that...IE redness and swelling that was firm. I ended up slowing the infusions down and doing them over 3-4 hours instead of 2 and the sites did better. Do you want my pics of 's infusions? I use the same set up as Pattie C. Just email me or give me a call. I know that there is a three way connector out there, as I have used one in the hospital, but can't remember the name or the company....You would need the male to male adaptors on the infusion sets then add a female to female on the three way and then connect to they syringe. Hope that helps. , MOM to , PID, nos...hypogam, selective antibody deficiency, NK cell defect, ? NEMO....... Also a RN working NICU/PEDS going to Hospice and days in two weeks... Guest guest
My 9 yr old son takes 30 mls of viva weekly after a year of gamma. We used the 3 site set but have increased it to the four due to swelling on his very skinny body. The brand we use is from Norfolk Medical. The number on the package is # SCIG 33136A. Hope this helps. > > I asked last week if anyone knew about a needle set that was set up like > the soft set/sert but was used for 3 locations instead of 1. Guest guest
What I seem to be hearing from people at least anecdotally is that the Viva ( as I would expect) is more caustic to the skin. My son is not having any redness or discomfort and he gets 30mls per site of Gammagard. I use to think that volume would cause irritation but it seems that the greater volume atleast in our case is not the issue but the concentration causes more irritation. Just thinking about what I was reading. Has this been others experience??? BARBIE Re: Sub Q Needle Type Question My 9 yr old son takes 30 mls of viva weekly after a year of gamma. Guest guest
Macey receives Vivaglobin and has no skin irritation. She does have the pockets but where else is the fluid supposed to go but stretch the skin until it can seep in. She receives 25 ml's of 16% solution to each site.
