Guest guest
Hi Kim, We took my son (now 13) out of public school 3 years ago. He had not yet been diagnosed with CVID, but was missing at least 2 months of classes, plus sick most of the rest of the time. Home schooling made a HUGE difference in his health. Getting enough sleep, staying away from sick kids, and the reduction in stress were huge. Don't worry about the social parts. There is likely some sort of group in your area. We go on field trips every week, the kids are in 2 bowling leagues, my daughter takes gymnastics, and we have regular get togethers with our homeschool coop. Not to mention friends. Home schooling is a lot more social than you think. As for falling behind, both my kids have made far more than a year's growth each year of homeschooling. There are many alternatives to an online academy, so you have options beyond that.
