Guest guest
As we ease into 2007, please join with me in the time-honored tradition of reciting the Mr. Modem Pledge (patent pending) I promise that if you integrate each of the following affirmations into your daily digital life, your computing will be less stressful, more enjoyable and more productive. Place your right hand on your keyboard and repeat after me, " I promise to: 1) keep my anti virus and anti spyware software current and updated. 2) use my anti virus and anti spyware programs daily. 3) install a fire wall or router. 4) not spend money on utilities that promise the impossible. 5) back up my important data, then back it up again to be sure. 6) never forward email that asks me to forward it to others with the threat that my hard drive will be destroyed if I don't. 7) always use BCC (blind carbon copies) when sending email to multiple addressees. 8) never open a file attachment unless I'm expecting it -- and even then, I will check it for viruses. 9) refrain from 'forwarding' every little thing that comes in to your incoming email box, particularly if its been forwarded multiple times. If it has, its usually a hoax or urban legend. 10) un install applications from my computer that I don't use. 11) delete spam and never click any 'Remove Me' links. unless you are aware of who sent it to you. 12) embrace the philosophy, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it,' and stop tweaking my system when its running well. Congratulations ! Now, let's hope we all have our best computing year ever !! Have a good weekend and a Happy New Year! Party On!
