Guest guest
Jackie, thanks for your tips. I don’t think the Tylenol is an issue for me. I am already taking 2 pain medications (Vicoprofen and Combunox) due to my peripheral neuropathy. My right leg is very painful and numb (at the same time!) now for going on 2 years. Of course, I am hooked on this stuff and this is something that bothers me, but I can’t manage a semi-normal life without it. I am hoping that it will help me get through some of the sides when I start tx. The neuropathy is something that I am hoping will improve if I can beat the HCV. I am so tired of being sick. I went from being a very active lady in great shape from diet and exercise to an old woman using a walker in a matter of minutes when the neuropathy hit me. I’ve come a long way and can walk unassisted and manage on my own (with the medications), but I want my life back. That was one of the most compelling reasons that I made the decision to finally go ahead with tx. I may never be that pre-neuropathy woman again, but I’m going to give it a good shot! Everyone is different, but typically, most ppl feel feverish, body aches, joint pain, some ppl have rigors or severe shaking and feeling cold because of the fevers, headache, nausea.. basically like you have the worst flu you ever had.. but remember to start drinking that gallon of water every day now, get used to it before you start tx and also dont forget to take your dose of tylenol 30 minutes before you do your shot and then again at 3 1/2 hours AFTER the shot to keep the fevers under control which may control all the other symptoms listed above. Good luck hon,, we will be here for you all the way,, you just try to stay in touch with us and let us know how you are doing! hugs jax Dorothy <dorvoptonline (DOT) net> wrote: I think I’ve just about decided to wait till the day after the wedding to do the first shot. I’ve gone to an awful lot of time, trouble and CASH to find the right dress, shoes, etc. and of course, I’d like to be there for my family. Now I’m wondering what to expect that first week or so. I know that commonly, people experience aches and pains, fever, chills and other flu-like symptoms. Is this something that will go away after a few hours or days? Then to repeat again with the next shot? Do you ever adjust to the medications? I live alone and don’t have too many people nearby to count on for help. I don’t work right now (fortunately or unfortunately) so I am not concerned with that except to the extent that I need the money and my unemployment will run out at the end of October. I will most likely file for state disability at that time & will qualify based on other medical problems so that will help pay a few of the bills. I am hoping that my tx will be easy and that perhaps I’ll do some temp work. I had hep B back in the late 60’s and it really hasn’t bothered me all these years. Several years ago, I started developing medical problems such as rheumatoid arthritis and peripheral neuropathy. One of my doctors feels that these are a result of the HCV. I’m so tired of being sick and hope that I can beat the HCV and perhaps some of my other medical issues at the same time. Thanks so much for the advice. I look forward to keeping up with everyone as we all move forward! Jackie
