Guest guest
Wondered if anyone had heard of this trial or medication. The medication is currently used for ALS and I think maybe huntingtons. The neurotransmitter it acts upon is glutamate. In reading about riluzole I also read that b lactam antibiotics regulate glutamate and may be considered for a clinical trial in ocd and adhd and tourettes etc. My interest is in the effects upon trichotillomania (I read that some trich patients had success with this med after no success on many different meds) b/c it is disorder similar to skin picking (my dd has both trich and skin picking, plus ocd) which is a spectrum of ocd-and which seems often to be resistant to ssri and antipsychotic treatment, and often reistant to habit reversal as well. I'm even wondering if an antibiotic (b lactams? I think is a penicillin) can be prescribed for my d to try if her p-doc is willing. Here is the info: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00251303 nancy grace
