clinical trail-riluzole

Wondered if anyone had heard of this trial or medication. The

medication is currently used for ALS and I think maybe huntingtons. The

neurotransmitter it acts upon is glutamate. In reading about riluzole I

also read that b lactam antibiotics regulate glutamate and may be

considered for a clinical trial in ocd and adhd and tourettes etc. My

interest is in the effects upon trichotillomania (I read that some

trich patients had success with this med after no success on many

different meds) b/c it is disorder similar to skin picking (my dd has

both trich and skin picking, plus ocd) which is a spectrum of ocd-and

which seems often to be resistant to ssri and antipsychotic treatment,

and often reistant to habit reversal as well. I'm even wondering if an

antibiotic (b lactams? I think is a penicillin) can be prescribed for

my d to try if her p-doc is willing.
