But the herx was a little more than I wanted to deal with. So after about a week of taking them together, I went back to Diflucan then the Penicillin. It certainly could be the result of some non- bacteria-involving therapeutic process, but my " rough field procedure " would be to assume otherwise; what do you gain/lose by making or not making that assumption? I would then have a substantial desire to continue the penicillin, I think, rather than on-and-offing it. Can penicillin be taken with fluconazole simultaneously? In my case, it didn't matter if I discontinued the penicillin OR the diflucan, either one could induce a headache which I am quite certain is a result of an increase in sinus organism activity (both bacteria or fungal). This of course became more obvious after my sinus surgery, since I never really had sinus headaches prior to that. But before the surgery, what I'd notice was an increase in drainage whenever I discontinued either penicillin or diflucan. But I can see no reason to alternate the two. Guest guest Posted January 28, 2007 Report Share Posted January 28, 2007 My messages don't seem to make it at all (last few days) or make it 24hrs later, let's see if this one does: a, I had a slight fever, up one degree (an extraordinary event for me, my temp is always below normal) when I first went on diflucan. I stayed on for 2 and a half months 100mg/day didn't help any. I shall repeat MY mantra: Tinidazole is the only drug that helps significantly with all symptoms, especially brain related. I don't know whether it has to do with better penetration into where it matters or whether it is hitting MY bugs (parasites? Bb cycts? whatever?) Penny, the idea of combining seems to make sense, but I will probably go with this for now as it is all but impossible to talk with my doctor without an apt. which I have in 6 weeks. Today I feel GREAT. Yesterday was horrible. My headache, brain fog and fatigue and competely gone for now. This, while on diflucan only. It looks like the last few days with the low grade fever and all other symptoms were a herx. Again, thanks for further ideas, re other options.
