Guest guest
We're back from the hospital, and things went so much easier than IVIG. Ken and I each stuck a kiddo, and both of the boys agreed it was better than getting an IV. Yay! Things went smoothly, but we did have problems with one of the needle sets leaking. It didn't match up to the lot numbers mentioned earlier in the week, but it was the same brand. (We got our supplies last week and I checked when the discussion came up earlier.) The nurse felt that we probably needed a slower flow rate. That was all fine and good until about a half an hour ago when showed me his belly. Clear liquid is actually seeping out of the 2 holes where the needles were placed. I placed another call to Accredo, and now the plan is to switch him to 3 sites with longer needles and slower flow rate. Nothing's ever simple, is it? It could be so much worse, but I think my 6 year old is going to freak out over the third site. I hadn't heard of this kind of reaction, so I wanted to run it by you all. Any thoughts? Does the switch to 3 needles sound like the right response? Thanks ladies!
