Guest guest
I have not read all the posts regarding wish granting for PID kids....just want to share our story. About 16 months ago, Molly, our 6 year old with CVID was granted a wish by make a wish. She got a wonderful playground that was put in our back yard during a time where she was not able to leave the house because of the problems associated with her CVID. Molly has no other health problems and her physician recommended her for the wish. It has been an incredible addition to her life. Currently, Maggie, our 4 year old is in the waiting line for a wish. Most wish organizations do recognize immune disorders as a life threatening condition that meets the criteria for their organizations to grant wishes to these children, including CVID. The idea is to give children facing any chronic, life threatening condition a chance to break away from the stress of their condition and give them the chance to be a kid. The organization recognize that many of these families cannot take vacations etc. due to the added financial stress related to the childrens disorders. Personally, for us, a vacation for our family is constiturd by a trip to UCLA Children's hospital where we try to tack on a day at the beginning or end to go to the beach. These organization realize this and are there to help. Much of it is also up to your physician to support the application. DON'T BE AFRAID TO APPLY FOR A WISH FOR YOUR CHILD LIVING WITH A PID!
