Was there a typing error? I am alway interested in different sites that discuss kt (or anything for that matter) because you will find there is usually new people with different opinions there. I have found tons of info. here but am always curious about others experiences. Thanks, Tonnia
Guest guest
Aspenwolf, the site that link goes to lists several sites that commercially sell Kombucha and related products. That is not allowed as was posted yesterday. See below: NO COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING With the exception of the list owner, list members may not post to this list about Kombucha related products for sale, nor place links to commercial Kombucha sites, or advertisements, anywhere, on the Original Kombucha list including in their posts to the list, or in the FILES and LINKS sections. Mention of items for sale, other than those on commercial Kombucha sites, are only allowed in posts when it is relevant to the discussion taking place on the list. SPAM is not allowed ever! List members may list URL's to products, other than Kombucha products, which they sell _in their signature lines_ as long as their total signature does not exceed seven lines. Please refrain in the future. Guest guest
> ._._,___ Hi, I have to brews going and my husband just started drinking. While I am happy about this I need to increase my brews so that I don't run out midweek. I usually keep the baby in the brew for an additional week as I thought I heard that I should. Well, I gave all of my babies away last week and was wondering if I can separate the mom/baby to make another brew or keep them together for an additional week. Thanks, le
Guest guest
le, It is preferred that you keep mom and baby together rather than pulling them apart, but you can cut them in half or quarters if you need to make additional brews. Reason being is that certain yeasts and/or bacteria may be hanging out in one layer or the other, by taking pie shaped wedges you have a bit of each layer. Another lesson - Never give away your last spare scoby. Suppose you were to get mold or something ? Always keep at least one spare for yourself. Happy Brewing. zoe le Hunt wrote: >> ._._,___ >> > Hi, I have to brews going and my husband just started drinking. Guest guest
I keep mine together indefinitely. Once in a great while they separate themselves, then Im always sure to include a piece of the " mother " with the baby. Because of the layering, it seems to be instinct to want to separate the layers, but I've been told this is not the best way to do it. Cutting does not hurt the scoby and of course the baby always takes the size and shape of your brewing container. Giving to friends is a great thing to do but always keep one spare just in case. ;-) Z le Hunt wrote: > How long do I keep them together? > > yeah, i gave them to some friends so I could get them back if I needed > it. > > thanks! > le > On Sep 3, 2009, at 12:25 PM, zoew wrote: > > >> le, >> It is preferred that you keep mom and baby together rather than >> pulling them apart, but you can cut them in half or >> quarters if you need to make additional brews. >> Reason being is that certain yeasts and/or bacteria may be >> hanging out in one layer or the other, by taking pie shaped >> wedges you have a bit of each layer. >> >> Another lesson - Never give away your last spare scoby. >> Suppose you were to get mold or something ?
