Guest guest
, What label are they on and where can I get their CD's? I'd love to hear them! Do they play locally around Nashville, or all over the US?

Guest guest
Hi ! I've heard your fiancee's band. They're really good! My husband's a musician too and I know what you mean about the limited airplay for radio. They want everything to sound the same. You just have to keep trying and see what happens. The music biz is so much like the movie industry. It focuses more on gimmick and who you know than actual talent. It's aggravating!*lol* Judie --- Owens <slowens@...> wrote: > > > > That would be fun! You could help me with my form on > kicks! It's aggravating!*lol* Judie, That's so cool that you've heard of them! Yeah, I never realized how much beauracracy is inovolved in getting a song played on the radio before I got involved with Bob and got an inside glimpse into the music world. It's not a pretty picture....LOL! The term " starving artist " is pretty much a reality! It's frustrating because another band that is managed by the Wheelies management " 3 Doors Down " has a big hit on the radio and their cd just went gold. It sold more copies in one week than " Big Wheel " (the Wheelies 3rd album) sold in entirety. And there's no way that 3 Doors Down is better than the Wheelies. It's just that they have the " sound " that's popular right now and they totally fit into the radio format. It's really frustrating! But, the good thing is that the Wheelies have been at this for 8 years now, so when they do make it big, it won't go to their heads and they won't be a one hit wonder because they can't handle the sudden fame....LOL! The Wheelies are just so talented and it's amazing how many lives they have touched with their music. Usually when somebody hears them, their response is " Wow, this band is really good....why have I never heard of them? " So, hopefully something will happen for them. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
Guest guest
, That's a hard thing when you hear another band get recognition when you know that they're not as good or any good at all!*lol* I think the Wheelies stand a better chance than Jake,my husband, & Tobias' stuff. It's kinda cool though. Jake was a piano performance major in college so he's very classical in style but he also wants the most technical fast stuff to play. He didn't have anyone here who could keep up with him on the keys and he wanted to add some guitar to his songs. One day some guy in Sweeden went to his website: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/6308/ and sent him a message saying we should jam together. That's where Werrnesson & came from. They ended up at first sending mp3 files to each other. Jake would lay down the initial track and style of the song then send it to Tobias to put guitar solos in. They finally got frustrated with the sound quality and started mailing CDs back and forth with Jake doing the final mix. They made a CD of 13 songs together and sent it out to a lot of record companies, in the US & Sweeden, that accept unsolicted material. We got a lot of, not what were looking for right now blah, blah, blah. I wish he could do that for a living! Maybe when we move from Mayberry here he'll get to hook up with some people and meet more contacts. Tallahasse is definately NOT an arts/music community!*lol* Judie --- Owens <slowens@...> wrote: > > > > I've heard your fiancee's band. Do they play locally around Nashville, or all over the US? , They're on Capricorn and their latest cd is called " Big Wheel " . They were on Atlantic when they first got signed, but they got out of that deal and signed with Capricorn. Atlantic is more into promoting the big bands who have already made it, so I'm glad they were able to get out of that deal. Anyway, they are in most of the major record stores. But, you can definitely order them off the internet at www.cdnow.com. Also, they have a website www.wheelies.com and you can click on music and hear some samples (but those are from earlier albums). I think you can also hear samples at www.cdnow.com. They play all over the place. They were on tour with ZZ Top/Lynyrd Skynyrd this past fall and they played all over the U.S. They're most popular in the Southern States and in the Northeast (they've got lots of fans in the NY/NJ area). They're going out in June for 2 weeks and they'll be up in the Northeast for most of it. They play in Nashville every now and then, but they don't get much support here so they usually don't play the big festivals and things. Let me know if you can't find it. I could get you a copy. Also, when you click on rumors, it takes you to a picture and then you click on the picture to get to the actual message page. Bob's the bald one in the picture!
