I agree. I skipped over a lot of the home schooling conversations so I think

I missed whatever it was that happened. But I do know that if everyone was

the same, had the same beliefs etc., the world would be a very boring place.

:) who will keep Debbie's family in her prayers

me too!!!

Living in Northern NJ, I have never even known anyone homeschooled

until I met folks online who were doing it. It was a totally foreign concept

to me. In fact, I thought it was a state law that a child had to be in school

by a certain age. Although the system has served my family well,

it is good to know that others can find alternative ways that may work better.

Now I know if for any reason if our son is pulled from his school & forced

into mainstreaming cuz of a lack of funds or whatever, I can consider

homeschooling as an alternative for him too

Barb

who is always worried the Town may just say it is time for the regular high

school cuz he is doing so well academically

Debbie,

I agree. Being in politics means I live for debates, and heated ones at

that. I learned along time ago that the only person I have to defen my

actions to is myself. Ilove myself, so I win that one every time.

Debbie,

I don't think anyone needs to apologize. I enjoyed reading both

perspectives. I've never known anyone who was homeschooled or who has

homeschooled their kids, so I found it extremely interesting to hear about

it. I don't think anyone is right or wrong here, it's just a matter of your

own personal choice. We are all doing what we feel is best for our

children. I have an immense amount of respect for you and the others who

homeschool their kids and it makes me so proud to hear about your kids and

how well adjusted they are (although, I guess that's a little silly

considering I've never met them or you)! But, it just made me smile when I

read her letter asking us to pray for those kids and adults going on the

mission.....I know how proud you must be! I would love to see pictures,

too!

who hopes Skylar turns out as well as some of the kids I've heard about

through this group :)

Debbie,

Did I miss something? I didn't notice anything objectionable in the

discussion of home schooling. Why are you apologizing?

No need to apologize. I truly do not know as much as I should about home

schooling and opened my mouth or I guess my E-mail when I shouldn't have.

Being a teacher my experiences with homeschooling have been very negative

(kids being put back and forth into my classes when the parents had had

enough). Let's just say everyone has a right to their own choice and leave

it at that.
