Tina,

That you have made it this far is amazing and inspiring. Congratulations!

First pat yourself on the back, then think ahead to this new " abyss " ! It

must be so difficult to get out of the bed at 4:45AM, with or without a sick

child. You must be run down. It might help to try and focus on getting

yourself rested up first. Otherwise, you may get run down and sick..and then

that'lll REALLY sabotage your efforts! :-)

Take care of yourself first, and the challenge is always there!

Tina, Just hang in there. I feel for you and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you to stick to your goals when your baby is sick.

Just a thought - maybe you are wanting to coddle yourself with carbs because you feel you are having to expend so much energy and care on your baby, which is only natural, and that it would be real nice to spoil Tina for a change.

But remember, if you can, to spoil yourself with good nutrition, if possible take a lot of naps, get a Significant Other to babysit while you relax in the tub, recall the great feeling of looser fitting pants and when all else fails, give in, have a glorious free day and then get back on track as soon as you can. Your baby needs you healthy, you need to be healthy, so take time to take care of yourself. All the best, .

Tina,

Hang in there! One thing to remember is that even if you cant get your

workout in first thing in the morning, just doing it will help! So get moving

whenever you can, even if it doesnt involve 10's, you will feel better

knowing that you have done something! Last Thursday I was having knee

problems (I had surgery recently) so I forced myself NOT to go to the gym.

Talk about a bummer... but I put in a 10 min ab tape (that didnt involve my

knee at all) and I felt so much better after doing just that....

" As long as you are working towards your goal you have not failed! "

Hi, everyone! I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on a comment that

was made today that made me feel uncomfortable. I think a need a reality

check-

I've been breathing BFL for the past five weeks now, excited and

encouraged-and I know my body is changing b/c I see it. I'm a little sketchy

about the heavy weights, but I totallly trust the whole program.

However......

I continue to get a few comments from my mom that seem ambiguous.....like,

" I immediately noticed that your arms look bigger. They're alot bigger than

they were at Christmas, that's what I noticed first. " Okay. I'm a little

sensitive to the word " big. " When I asked her to clarify, " Well, it's a

different look.....more toned and shapely as opposed to the thin look that

you used to have. " Hmmm. My mom is a natural size 2-4, so I'm feeling a

little insecure about all of this right now. I used to run like a maniac in

my fanatical efforts to get thinner, and the comments made me feel " beefy "

or something. Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I need to feel good about my progress.

Thanks in advance for the reality check.

Thanks for the encouragement and support-I'll keep churning it out and

doing my best! I'm looking forward to finishing and seeing the end results

on Kodak-and sharing them with the people like you who are so supportive.

Hi , I can relate. I don't like being called "big" either, and I have a Mother who has said the meanest things to me that I've ever heard. I'm not saying yours is mean :-), just relating. People always say to me, "You can carry your weight so well because you're big." Hmmm. I don't like the word simply because it makes me feel that I cannot do anything about my size.

Words like big, chunky, athletic, beefy, well-built...you know, they can sound like "not quite fat" or even more like words used to describe a man.

On the other hand, some physical facts of life have to be accepted. Is your Mother the sort of Mother who would for some reason like you to feel bad about yourself, or does she just say things without thinking? Actually, in either case, I would ignore what she says! She may be speaking from genuine love and concern for you, there again she might be threatened by your success. Only you know. Focus on the fact that you are doing so well; you are dedicated and enthusiastic. Don't let what anyone says to you affect YOUR goals and dreams as you change YOUR body! Hey lisa,

A couple of thoughts: first, there's a generational difference there. I

don't know how old you are, but I know that my mom (who is about 50) is

afraid is muscles. Mothers who are older than this are probably even more

afraid. There are stereotypes with certain generations that are hard to

break (and if you are 50 or older, please don't take offense to this. It's

just something I've notice as a general rule, but not with everyone that

age). So, consider where her mind set is coming from.

Second, while you are building muscle, chances are, you still have fat to

get rid of, right? While your body is gaining muscle, it is also losing

fat. However, sometimes the muscles build on top of (I could be

technically wrong here) the fat...making things seem bigger than they are.

ONce the fat starts burning off more, and you are left with more muscle,

less fat, the arms will look even more toned and less " bulky. " I've run

into this with my arms and legs--my pants get TIGHTER before they get

looser when I'm lifting. I know this is because there is still fat to be

lost. Soon (maybe in a couple of weeks) you will lose more fat and the

arms will look even more toned.

Be proud of your progress! Even though your mom said the arms look big,

take that as a sign that you are working your muscles well! They are

developing shape, and as you develop shape, things become more noticible

(in a good way!) Perhaps she is just noticing " shape " and definition.

Those are good things!

Keep at it . Your arms will thank you :)

to live and breathe it through the twelve weeks, take your pictures and I'll

guarantee you'll like the end pictures better than the start and it only

gets better from there. Leave the insecurities behind. You're doing great

Tina, You are doing very good to follow the nutrition in these

circumstances. Don't give in to the cravings and you'll be back in the gym

before you know it. Try some calisthenics at home and run in place if

necessary. I hope your little one is better soon! Kit
