I don't know any remedies for tennis elbow, sorry. I thought about trying Tae Kwon Do because I read somewhere that you don't have to spar with anyone. You know, I wouldn't want to hurt anyone with my super human strength... Er, ok, I am just a big chicken and can't imagine hitting anyone. Anyway, could you tell me what it costs approximately for one person a month? I know prices vary greatly but I am just looking for a ball park figure. It isn't 100 a week is it? That is what I am kind of expecting. There is no way I could afford that!
Guest guest
Hi, Around here anyway classes are not that high. We pay $80 a month for 5 but it would be $40 a month for one. They give family discounts. Our first school was $125 a month for four but she had a building to afford. That school closed which is why we had to look elsewhere. The first school also had a lot of extra expenses, belt tests were high and tounaments were required to progress. I did not know that till after the girls were in classes for a while. Now I know to ask before we join. Live and learn. But we did love the first school. About sparring, it is not my favorite thing either. Our first school did not spar often. And the instructor was strict about sparring gear and not letting anyone get hurt. Later when we were looking for a new school we went to one for a couple months that sparred 9 out of 10 classes. We hated it. And it was easy to get hurt because students were sparring too much and not knowing technics. We moved on. The next school did not spar often but the classes were too relaxed, not as strict as we were use too. Kids were out of hand, and we just did not care for it. So we moved on again. Now we have found a school we like and we have been there four months and have sparred once. I have not been to a Tae Kwon Do school so I do not know if they spar. My suggestion is to ask and watch or take a few classes. Most instructors are very nice. If they are intimidating, move on. I am the only woman in our classes. And almost the oldest person too. If they are doing something that I am leary of the instructor always understands and we take it slow. Or if I want I do not have to do it. My main concern has been rolls and break falls. I am old! We never had to do them in the other style. I waited till I felt ready to try and then adjusted them so I would not get hurt. I will say that for me martial arts has been addictive. I really love it. Have a great day Candace

I met a guy last night that takes some form of martial arts near my house. I forgot what he called it but it means " fight with an empty fist " He said it is a combo of Tae Kwon Do, judo, and something else. I forgot. He paid 45 dollars a month. That I could definitely do!! Now I need to quit being such a chicken and just call... I went by a Tae Kwon Do studio near me a few weeks ago but they were closed. I haven't built up the nerve to go back. I have a question! When you spar, do you really hit and kick someone or just pretend? I am not worried about being hit, I just don't know if I could hit someone else. What a wimp, huh? Thanks again for all of the information!!

Again it depends on the school. the school we are is strict about control. We have to learn to control our punches and kicks. It should be on target but controled enough to only make light contact. But as you rise higher in belts the contact gets more real. This is because they are teaching us how to protect ourselves and in a real situation a " mugger or whatever " is not going to hold back and it is important to learn to take a punch as well as give it. But this is a slow process. When I first began sparring I did not like it at all. But it grows on you. It is hard to explain but you get the hang of it after awhile. I know it is hard to start a class, I started because my oldest boy was too shy to go alone. After I signed us up, he started crying and wouldn't take class. So I had to stand up there by myself, and felt like a chubby idiot. But after a few classes, my son began to join in. The teacher was great and chubby or not, I stayed too. I think you will like it if you try it. Good luck! Candace

Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I had a question. I was doing Tae-Bo from last Jan - about Sep. Then I started again with the AL tapes at the end of Feb. I've been doing really good. The only thing is, is that I'm starting to get a cold. I have to go to a wedding on April 22, and see my boyfriends ex-girlfriend. I feel that if I don't do my Tae-bo for a couple of days, my hard work will be ruined. I bought a dress. It's a size 3/4 and fits me very well. The only thing is, is if I stop for a few days, I feel I won't fit into it. I don't have a full-blown cold yet, I just feel one coming on. Today is my AL #3 day. Should I do it or rest. Please help!!!

A lot of people have even said that when they take a few days off, Tae-Bo continues to work! And...even if you don't fit into that dress come the wedding, your hard work will NOT be ruined. You have been taking wonderful care of yourself, and a dress that doesn't fit won't change that. Susi

If you just have a fever or have sinus problems than go ahead and workout but listen to your body. AVOID dairy products as they help your body produce mucus. A couple days off between now and April 22nd will not make you gain a size. BTW if something fits tightly or near tight on you....a few days before you wear it cut out ALL sodium, soft drinks, dairy products, wheat and eggs....these will make you retina more water.....you dont have to starve yourself into a dress....just watch the specifics of what you are eating. But if you dont feel better tomorrow....try walking and ease of the Taebo for a day or two. Drink lots of hot liquid minus the milk and try to get some more onions and garlic into your diet. Also if you are not a vegetarian the old adage about chicken soup ios true. There are naturally occuring anti-biotics in chicken bone marrow. so get some. :-) Who need to take her own advice
Guest guest
, Go to the healthfood store, and buy Echinaecia tincture. Take it for 5 days, 3x/day, or as directed, and take a lot of Vitamin C (up to 1,000 mgs per hour). I wouldn't stop working out yet, if I were you. Just be super-mindful about not catching a chill when sweating, and changing out of your workout gear as soon as you're done working out. Good luck, and be well! ;-) F > > Hi Everyone, > > I had a question. I was doing Tae-Bo from last Jan - about Sep. Then I > started again with the AL tapes at the end of Feb.
