Okay this might not exactly sound like a pep talk but...

Is your husband or friend going to go to boot camp with you? No

Who will be pulling you throught those long ardous months? You

Because someone falls out on a run at boot camp does that mean you fall out

too? No

Working out by yourdelf can be fun once in a while if you are used to working

out with someon else...get silly with it!!! I dance around when is

talking or marching it out I go NUTS....but I pull myself through it and I

know you can too...This is your warm up.

Do you have any fears about boot camp? do you think you might be trying to

self-handicapp yourself by slacking off a little and smoking more? You know

you can do this.....you know deep down that you can do this, but this will be

the hardest thing you've ever done so just know that and don't give in when

things start to get rought. Don't give in now. If your having trouble with

Taebo...go our and hike some...take a weighted back pack...lord knows you'll

need the practice...go roller skating with a friend. GET active and get away

from tha pack of cigarettes.

I of course mean of all of this lecture with love!

Now forgive your past transgressions and get goin!

<< I don't know which way they are looking right now. I feel kind of bad

cause I don't have any poetic words to give about anything some of you are

going through right now. I am trying to figure out why for the past 2 weeks

I have done Tae-Bo a whopping 3 times. Oddly enough I feel better about

myself, I have lost some more weight, and I am on a better sleeping

schedule. I am ever so modivated by all the posts here, plus I love actually

doing the work outs. I think to myself " I need to go out in the living

room and do Tae-Bo. " But then I don't. So, now I am scratching my head tying

to figure this out. On another side, everytime I ask Mike about doing

Tae-Bo he says something like, Can't we do it later? or tomorrow? (He

doesn't feel good, he is tired, he has a headache) And I don't feel like

doing Tae-Bo alone. I know my neighbor won't do it with me ( Of course

other things have been happening with my neighbor and me and other friends

of ours, that were friends of there's also are not even talking, but that is

a really long story and not something I want to go into right now.) I do

have the other friends who might do it with me, but I haven't asked yet if

they want to yet. They have mentioned trying it out sometime. Half of my day

is spent sitting here in front of my computer smoking (Not a great thing I

know.) I don't know about eating. I honestly can't subjectivly look at what

I am eating and say if I am eating more or less. Worse or better. I " think "

I am eating less but of things I really shouldn't be eating...like steak and

salami and hamburger (cheese too, but only with macarroni and cheese.) Well

here is a fill in of what I have eaten so far today. I woke up at 10 am Had

my 2 pills and a glass of OJ. About 1pm I ate 2 biscuts (the flaky butter

kind, already made out of a can kind of a thing) And about 10 minutes ago I

finished about 1 cup of mac and cheese that had onions and hamburger with

spagetti sauce in it. Right before the mac and cheese thing I took my other

2 pills. So, that's it so far for today. I am also drinking my water. (So

far have had about 4 cups of water.) That's it. Till later.

MARY,

DO YOUR WORKOUT WHEN YOU FEEL UP TO IT ...... BUT YOU PROBABLY WOULD

FEEL BETTER AFTER YOU DID IT .......... AS FOR ME I WOULD RATHER DO MY WORK

Just another side thought...I stopped working out as much before I started

taking the pills. Weird cause I do get more energy from the pills, don't

feel depressed though. I am basically just not doing the work outs. Mike

also mentioned that the friends we have been coming over every day so we

haven't been able to do Tae-Bo.I think I am going to just get up and go in

and do a work out now!!

GO FOR IT! That is honestly the best way to get past it, in my

opinion. I know it's tough. I have definitely had tons of weeks like

the two you have described, but you can get out of it!

, you can ignore my response if it bothers you. I just had to tell

you that I am very concerned about your new diet (the pills combined

with your eating choices). I would much rather hear that you are eating

healthy food all day (even if you had a meal every 1/2 hour) with no

pills, than taking the pills and eating saturated fats. Your body needs

5 serving of vegetables and fruits. You don't even need to count them

as " food " or " calories " if that would help you eat them. One high in

fat red meat serving or regular cheese serving a day might be OK, but 3

means that your body has so much work to do make up for the " bad " fats.

Can you try substituting fruit (not just juice, but fruit for the

fiber), vegetables, or whole grains or beans for one or more of the

pills and/or for one or more of the red meat or cheese servings? One of

my favorite foods is brown rice and/or wild rice with my favorite

steamed vegetables (like asparagus) and some herbs, pepper, and a splash

of olive oil. Throw in some smoked turkey or chicken breast or some

fish (like albacore tuna) and you have a healthy, satisfying meal.

I'm starting to sound like a nag. I just am worried that even if this

new " diet " enables you to lose some weight, you won't be able to keep it

up. It won't become a positive lifestyle change.

Well I am in a better mood now, but funny thing..I went in and said " Mike

can we do Tae-Bo now? " And he says right now? I said yeah..and he says I

just started watching this movie...I think it ends at 8 pm. So I got on my

work out clothes and everything and am waiting for 8 pm to hit (in a few

minutes)

Elena, reading your post made me realize that the only fruit I had

apple. Thanks for reminding us all of the importance of good nutrition!

No, your right Elena (Not nagging) ....I need to seriously look at what I am

eating...I have tons of veggies in the freezer, rice and chicken too (turkey

sausages too) I need to stop the thinking, " I can eat what I want because

of the pills. " I still need to eat healthy and make good choices of what I

eat. It's good that you brought it up. I need a good swift kick in the a$$

sometimes. I think I should at least go back to writing down what I eat

every day..not the calories or fat in it...but just a general, I had rice

and veggies for lunch kind of thing. It would help me get back on track

better. Thanks for writing what you did.

It's a great pep talk....An extremly true pep talk. It will be ME who gets

I'm sorry you are having a rough time right now! I'm not sure you're

going to like what I'm going to say....but, it's what jumped out at me

when I was reading your message. You are the one who controls whether

you work out or not. Sure, it might not be as fun to workout by

yourself...but you can't let the fact that Mike doesn't feel like

working out, determine whether you work out. You have to make a

commitment to yourself and you need to say " I will do this because I

want to do it and I will do it no matter what. It doesn't matter if

Mike does it with me or not.....I will still do it. " You can't let his

excuses be your excuses....you have to do it for you! Ok, that's all I

wanted to say about that :)

Now, as for the pills....are they making you not feel hungry during the

day? I'm just a little worried that you aren't eating enough " good

stuff " or making healthy choices and the minute you stop taking these

pills....any weight you lose will come right back on because you

haven't really changed anything along the way...does that make sense?

What I mean is...if you don't learn to change your eating habits, but

are taking pills that speed up your metabolism and thus, cause you to

lose weight....at some point you will stop taking the pills or the

pills will no longer be effective and you will be left eating the same

bad things, making the same bad choices, and you will gain back any of

the weight that you have lost.

I hope you are able to get back into tae-bo and that you are feeling

better soon. Your message had a sort of sadness to it and I can't

quite seem to find the right words to express myself right now. We all

have off days and we all have times when we struggle to stay

motivated....you just have to look inside yourself and remember what it

is that you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it. And it's

times like these that we are training our wills even more so than our

bodies.....sometimes, you just have to go push play....even though you

don't want to :)

I originally am supposed to go in May. But my recruiter said that if I

didn't make it then I would have to wait till September to go in.

(Something about the fact that I am 26 and married with 2 kids and in May

the recruiters start going after the females who just finished high school

and don't have kids or aren't married yet) I am very seriously now thinking

of waiting till September to go in. It would give me more time to quit

smoking, and get into better shape. In the next few months instead of being

in boot camp I would be working out with the advanced tape and have better

strength and endurance and all. I'm sorry you didn't get into the military.

What branch did you want to go into?

he he he...a true smoker buddy....I really do want to quit....famous last

words here, cause anyone who has smoked knows how hard it is to quit. I tend

to get short of breath when I am running or really working out (like with

the advanced tape!) Not that I can't keep going, I usually do, but still...

I do feel better after having done the work out tonight. Have even more

energy after doing the workout.

I don't mind what anyone has to say. I am a really open person who

takes in everything that is said to me...Some things I listen to, and things

I don't feel right for me I just toss to the side. I do realize that for

the next few days I am going to have to do the advanced by myself..so I will

just have to go in there and press play and go on. If Mike wants to join me

it is up to him, but no matter what I have to do it. Pills not making me

hungry.....I " feel " hungry...my tummy is growling...and then I just find

something easy to make (read, usually something high in fat cause it IS easy

to make.) OK I am a lazy cook. LOL I do need to look and see what I can eat

that is pretty easy and not high in fat. Like the night before take that

chicken out of the freezer!!

, you take advice so well! That should be a plus in the military.

A lot of us have had to deal with (and are still dealing with) the " I

can eat anything I want because I exercise regularly " problem. Even if

we could and still lose weight, we would be ignoring the other needs of

our body (to keep our blood pressure, cholesterol levels, ... down).

It's a life-long journey that requires small steps. Your idea of

keeping a list sounds like a winner.

Elena, who forgot to mention earlier that the albacore tuna can come

from a can (the oil-free ones) and the vegetables can be frozen
