,

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. Is there anyway that you can see

him more than twice a year? Or are finances really tight?? Check into

military flight benefits...I think they are especially helpful when you need

to visit family. Where is your son going to live if you don't mind me

asking? Is there a base near there? I'm not saying yu have to transfer

right now, but maybe a little down the road you might consider it.

You are in my prayers,

Hello all. I haven't posted in a long time. I am going througha really

rough time right now. Many of you know that I am sending my son back to the

mainland (I live in Hawaii) to live with his father, which in essence means

I

wills ee him twice a year for the next three and a half years. This has

been

the hardest decision of my life. Now, today, the movers are coming to pick

my son's stuff up, and on Saturday, I am moving in to my new, one bedroom,

lonely apartment. My heart is breaking ino a thousand pieces. The movers

just got here, so I am off to pack away my little baby's stuff. He just

turned one a few weeks ago on the 8th of March...Thanks for listening all.

To answer all questions, my son is going to be living in Ohio, there is no

way for me to see him more than twice a year, cuz I don't get enough leave.

I cannot transfer due to my field and they will not let me cross-train. My

son's father and I are not married, and he is not in the military...in fact

the reason that he is moving is because I cannot live with him anymore. I

have thought of all other ways to do this, and nothing else will work....so I

have to make this sacrifice. :(

Oops, my husband (retired first sergeant) just told me to think about

enlisted/reenlistment bonuses. If you enlisted/reenlisted for that duty

assignment, they might not want to transfer you. I'd recommend you talk to

someone you are comfortable with and can trust (chaplin, your supervisor,

your commander, your IG, or maybe an agency like Army Emergency Relief (I'm

sorry, but I forgot what branch you're in)). There may be a way where you

can live closer to your baby. I'll keep thinking about it and see if I can

come up with anything else.

Dear Honeybear,

I can't even begin to imagine the pain you must be feeling right now. You've been through so many changes already this year, and now this on top of everything else. My heart goes out to you and your little sweet baby. Please know that when everything seems to be the darkest, that you have the love and support of everyone on this list. We'll be here to listen and provide e-hugs. Remember to continue to take care of yourself. You've got to dig down deep for the strength to get both of you through this.

Love,

LV, who wishes she could think of something to say to help Honeybear feel better

What is you MOS and how long have you been in the military? When are you for

re-enlistment?

Is Hawaii the only base that utilizes your MOS? Let us know the details.

Some of us are in Gov't some are former military and we might be able to help

you with some loop holes. Maybe even if its just one more trip a year.

Also, you and your sons fathers financial circumstances might change for the

better over the next year or two and maybe he can visit you a couple of times

a year also.

No matter what the outcome, this is a terriblyhard situation for you. We all

care about you and will be thinking of you!

As a mother I can only begin to imagine the pain you are feeling right

now. I know there is really nothing I can say that will make things

any better for you right now, but please know that I am thinking about

you and praying that you find the strength to get through this

difficult time. You are making the ultimate sacrifice for your child

and you are an incredible mom. I hope you can find peace in knowing

that you are doing what is best for your son :) It doesn't lessen the

pain that you are feeling, but it helps to know that you are doing

something positive for your son! Please know that we are all thinking

about you and if you need someone to vent to, or cry to, or just

someone to listen....we are all here! You are incredibly strong and

brave and you will get through this....just lean on us when you need to

:)

I am a Tagalog linguist, and yes this is the only place I can be stationed.

I would get out of the Navy, but I can't afford to...I know that sounds bad,

but I really can't...so I have to make a few sacrifices...My parents think I

am doing this so that I can " capture the youth that having a child has

taken " ...which is BS...I could care less about " being young " ...I am 21 going

on 35...I appreciate everyone's support. I am just going to have to fight

through this, and hope for the best. I appreciate everyone's prayers.

Thanks all.

, my Dad and his buddy (Navy vet and a Commander in the Navy)suggested

you talk with the Chaplain regarding your situation. The Chaplain often has

more pull than you might think. Not only will it help you vent, but he/she

may be able to help you brainstorm on how you can see your son more, even if

they can arrange more paid family leave for you. In the very least you can

talk to someone in the military who will give you a sympathetic ear and soem

warm word.

I appreciate your advic, but I already talked to the chaplain, and he is

just going to rough it out here, becuas, trust me, there is no way that I am
