Greetings from snowed in MA (and last week I saw daffodil shoots coming out of

the ground!),

Last night we were snowed in, so I decided the family would watch a movie and

eat brownies for fun. The movie was Klute. My son decided to play computer games

and my daughter, husband and I were watching the movie.

Then it started. Dd with OCD started asking question after question. It drove

me CRAZY. My patience wore thin. Often she asked the same question to dh and to

me. Sometimes I think she asked because she couldn't follow the movie. Other

times I think she asked just to hear herself talk or to get us to say " yes " or

" no. "

Anyway after a certain time of getting more and more mad because her talking

made it impossible for ME to follow the plot and hear the dialog, I screamed at

her to SHUT UP! Of course, she didn't. Later I screamed at the top of my lungs

once (just a shriek, no words).

An evening that was supposed to be fun, turned into her calling me " mean " and

me feeling like an awful mother. Me thinking that if this was OCD behavior I

should have answered the questions and just rewatched the movie by myself

another day.

Do others of you have trouble with watching movies with an OCD teenager? Does

this sound like an OCD thing? Advice on how I should have handled it?

Thanks, Imogene
