Congratulations!! My dad and step mom are leaving in a few days to adopt another baby. This one is a boy! That will make 10 of us! My dad's first marriage produced my older sis, then he married my mom and had my brother and I. He and my stepmom married 14 years ago and they have 3 biological children (2 boys and a girl) and three adopted girls. It is funny, my dad will now have 4 children younger than my 5 year old. The fist baby they adopted is right around the same age as my youngest so that is a lot of fun! There is my family in a nut shell!

One of my closest friends, , who's 53 and single, is going to China on May 4th to pick up her new daughter...who is 2-1/2. Her name is still up for debate. She wants to call her Marigny (silent " g " ). The middle name is what's up for debate. Her mother wants the kid named after her ( " Constance " ...ugh!)...which is weird since she's been against the adoption all along. I have a problem with there being no chinese in the kid's name, but it's not up to me. I think the baby's name is Jiang at the moment...which translates to " Baby Doe " . That's gotta go. But something affirming her value in the world in her native language would be great, I think. She'll have a french first and last name. Anyway, I'm so excited that my friend is finally getting what she has wanted and that this child coming into our lives. ;-) F
