YAWNING AND TICS

That is so interesting. My son, age 11, yawns when he gets nervous or maybe

feels like he is going to cry/embarrassed/upset. He will just give one big yawn

every time, but I know how he is feeling based on whether he yawns or not.

Could that be considered a " tic " ?

I know my OCD brother in law kind of jerks his head to the side when he gets a

bad thought. he says he thinks he does it to try to get the thought out.

Would you consider these behaviors " tics " or just coping techniques?

Thanks!

That's actually what the pdoc was thinking too. Maybe the urge to

yawn is the tic part, and is why she can't get a deep enough breath

when she does it, because she doesn't " need " to yawn?

Let's hope the new meds make a difference. And I hope we're doing it

the right way, 3 days of Fluvoxamine at 50mg before switching to

100mg seems awfully short.
