Great job,

I am so excited to hit some high, instead of just screaming!!

I began workingout today, i did upper body........ ouch, luckily it doesn't

take much to type.

I feel fabulous though. I do body fat tomorrow....... I am scared. I know

reality will hit then and it will just motivate me all the more to change

it. I can see now why fat % and measuring along with pictures is so

essential!

Does any one know when the next challenge starts, I haven't been able to

find anything. I am still awaiting my challenge packets.

Woohoo! Hi Danni, nice to see you around these parts. And glad to see that

you're starting off on the right foot. Didn't I tell you this was a great group

of peoples? :) Setting little goals and hitting them feels really great, as

you'll soon see. Today was my HIIT cardio and I managed not only my 20 minutes

but a full 20 of extra moderate afterwards, including 10 minutes on the

treadmill. For me, that's a big thing because I have really bad circulation

problems in my legs and the treadmill just about kills me after 5 minutes.

Soon, I may be able to do 20 minutes on the treadmill alone! :)

WooHooo! Tina, It really feels good as you make excellent strides in areas

that seemed impossible at one time. I couldn't believe my progress on

cardio. Literally no plateaus, just continuous improvement with each

session. slow and steady! Stay strong! Kit

Thanks Kit. I tell you what, though, I feel like dying on HIIT days after my

LBW days. LOL. Talk about a struggle! I yearn for the day when it gets easier

to do. :) One thing is that I've been having a lot of trouble with a sore knee

the last few weeks, it flairs up on and off, and I'm terrified of blowing it

out. :( Any idea how difficult it is to do LBW without stressing the knees? heh

Kit,

Your envisions of a heart attack made me laugh! I usually reach my 9s and

10s while running on a busy road, and all I can think is, " I must look like

the biggest idiot, running just as fast as I can, huffing and puffing...at

least if I pass out, there are definitely other people around to call an

ambulance! " Ha ha!

10s are especially fun in the gym, when I'm obviously really going all out

beside others who might be leisurely reading the paper while cycling! Oh

well, maybe I'll make some new BFL friends. :-)

I don't go much below 90 degrees for that reason, and the stress is still

great. be sure not to elevate heels on the squat and point your toes to the

outside about 30-35 degrees and keep knees in line with the toes. Slow

tempo and discontinue immediately on any twinge. The knees are pretty

important! BTW I have the same issues on cardio after leg day. It takes

the first five minutes just to convince myself I will finish! LOL

Hah! This reminds me why I don't do the stationary bikes! Now I remember...I do rowing, and I have a picture that inspires me about 10 feet away. I row for 20 minutes and I look at that picture, and my arms, my legs, my shoulders are burning, and the sweat is pouring off my head, and I look at that picture. I guess I'm thinking that if I just keep on going, I'll get there, to the picture, to me. I also use the StepMill, almost every day.

That thing is brutal. The only reason why I've stuck with it is this true event that occured just 2 weeks ago: I had a meeting up at Cornell University, and if you don't know anything about Ithaca, it has massive, steep hills, from which form beautiful gorges and waterfalls. Anyway, we decided that after the meeting we'd walk into Collegetown and get some dinner. La-di-da, we skip down the hill to a Greek restaurant and eat dinner. 90 minutes later, we leave the restaurant, and have to hike back up the hill to our cars in the parking lot. So, we're walking, talking...and suddenly, I realize I'm talking to myself!! What the... I turn around, and there, about halfway up the hill are my compatriots, panting and wheezing.

I'm nearly at the top, and I was barely breathing hard. Oh, yeah...I'm far from the oldest in the group, too. That convinced me that the StepMill was my newest, bestest friend.

Lucky! Man, it takes me til I'm around minute 15 to convince myself that I can

finish. :) I usually feel like dying when I reach minute 4 and the intensity

starts to climb. That's why I feel really proud of myself when I finish the 20

minutes HIIT and then do an additional 20 moderate after that. I'm such a

wussy, I really feel like giving up sometimes and have very little willpower but

I know my coach (hi !) would kick me inna hiney if he found out that I gave

up too soon. ;)

It is a mental dialogue with myself everytime! I love most cardio except the bike. Especially when I first change over which is where I am at now. It is hard for me even to peddle on the first minute after a peak, then I steel myself for the climb, but literally counting seconds with two-three minutes to go in each five minute climb to the intensity peak. I have no idea how someone could read their mail which Bill used to do. I'm too busy talking to myself! But a little personal best each time will keep you focused, help you win the argument with yourself and take you to new heights! I've added 20 minutes to the end and it takes some serious talking to keep from shutting it down early. Stay strong Champions! Kit

*sigh* 10 mns extra is all i can keep myself talked into....ugh!! I MEAN to do 20....but up to this point, 10 is all I can eke out, then I shut it off......*grumble*

BUT BUT BUT!!! Ive learned how to discipline myself this far at least!! My poor crosstrainer hasnt been used except for the 10 mns I spent on it 2 years ago after I put it together...... LOL!! So 20mns HIIT followed by 10 moderate is a HUGE mountain to me :)

And the mental pic of you and your underwear......well lets just say that about made me fall outta my chair the first time you described it....and it is no less effective now!! TeeHee!! I shall NOT try to remember that while doing cardio.......Ill fall of the blasted machine!! LOL!!!

Congratulations! That's huge results! Focus first on the 20 minutes and hitting those tens and then doing a personal best by increasing one thing each time and you'll be the cardio queen in no time! My first two rounds last year were the solution followed by five minutes of cooling off slowly until my heartbeat came back to earth. I had visions of a heart attack for the first two months! (No gasping remember!!) Progress not perfection! Onward Champions! Kit

My biggest problem with the cardio is probably sheer boredom. I'm bored to

tears. I have my favorite music blaring and they have three tvs in the room with

closed captioning but there's rarely anything on in the mornings that I'm the

least bit interested in. The guys usually have ESPN on two tvs (one on each side

of the room) and the other one usually has either one of the morning shows like

Today or Reege, and I despise him. :) I can't sit there and read, either, I

get too distracted and can't follow what I'm reading.

Anyone have any hints on how not to be bored for 40 minutes? :)

*giggle* Grit your teeth and bear it........ugh!! Thats what I do....I get horribly bored too :( Sometimes though, I close my eyes(and pray not to fall off the machine) and visualize what im going to look like after all this hard work!! THAT motivates me.... but other times I just plug thru.....

Anybody else out there have ideas?? I think Im going to do Tae- Bo for my cardio at my 4 week change....just am not entirely sure how thats going to work for HIIT, although the workout seems to be presented in intervals (on my tape).....another thing Im working on is praying this rain stops soon so the gravel roads dry up enough to go out and run with my daughter on her bike (she's 6)..... THIS would be fun, but not in mud slop up to my knees :(

I usually think 20 minutes outta my day aint much and I am

going to be sweaty all over and my metabolism will be

soaring and I will be tight all over!

Its worth it to push yourself for that 20 too!

Tina,

I'll bet this trainer is thinking, " Jeez, she really knows what she's doing " ,

and has taken interest in you! Besides, with another expert in the gym, he's

probably more aware of what HE is doing now!
