<< Get 's book, The Tae-bo Way and read the descriptions of each kick

Thanks for the help ! I'll look for 's book tonight while I'm out

shopping for 'workout' clothes! I'll keep doing the kicks til I get it

right! I'm so excited about Tae Bo and I haven't even started yet - I can

only imagine how much more excited I'll be once I'm addicted! LOL!

Yes it takes some time. I did notice something though..when we were doing

the Intro tape...(which reminds me that we have been doing the Intro for the

last 2 days but I got that BL2 tape today!!!!) I always noticed that I can

not keep my balance during the kicks...even though when I do the Basic or

Advanced tape I have no problems with the kicks. (except for double time

back kicks) Once you feel comfy with your form and the Intro tape then go on

to the Basic tape and I pretty much garentee that you will have an easier

time with the kicks!!

Who, even though she wroked out with the Intro HAS to go and try out the BL2

tape now!!

Great support!

YEE-HAH! Another on the list! Keep 'em coming!

Welcome to the team!

How long does it take to "get" the kicks? Hmmm, I think it took me about 4 months to feel very confident in my kicking ability. Then I started working out my Sonja, who corrected my form and my kicks got even better. Then I went to the November tapings in LA and watched work with a lady on her kicks and they got even better. Next week is my one-year anniversary and I think I'm finally learning how to kick!

Get 's book, The Tae-bo Way and read the descriptions of each kick and look at the right/wrong way pictures. That will help you more than anything. In the meantime for a roundhouse kick, remember to turn your supporting foot all the way out to the side (your toes on the supporting foot will be pointed in the opposite direction to your focus point) and bend your knee slightly, shift your weight over the supporting leg by cocking your (kicking leg) hip up and "chamber" your kicking leg (this means to lift your kicking leg to the side and bend your knee, bringing your foot (toe pointed) back near your hip in preparation for the snap kick), counteract your balance by raising your hands/arms into the guard position facing the focus point of your kick. Just balance on one foot in this position, then slowly straighten out your kicking leg with your toe pointed to "slap" your focus point with the flat part of the top of your foot, and return your leg to the chambered position. Slowly, lower the kicking leg down to touch your toe on the floor, while keeping your hip cocked up. Repeat slowly until you have a feel for the move.

Someone else want to take a stab at the other kicks?

LV, who loves to hear about more s on the list :-)

Great support!

I just joined this list a couple of days ago and I just have to comment on how wonderful it is to see so much support for each other! All of you are already an inspiration to me and I haven't even started Tae Bo yet! (I know, I know - I have to get off my butt and do it!) I had some blood work done yesterday and was diagnosed as being anemic. I'm starting iron pills today so hopefully I'll get lots more energy. As soon as I get up tomorrow morning, I'm going to measure myself, then Tae Bo! I'm ready to get going! I do have a question -- how long does it take to master the kicks? I went through the instructional tape the other day and the kicks are really awkward for me. I guess it just takes time and perseverance! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Welcome . The other ( LOVE, we call her) gave you an

incredible and correct description of the roundhouse kick. For the

other kicks, I think it's best to just try them following 's

instructions and watching those on the tape (TIP: you can never go

wrong watching Shellie, his daughter; her form is perfect). You will

pick up the moves and form with practice. We all have and I am a very

slow learner when it comes to physical type things. Check out our

introductions and some pictures at our web site at

One of the reasons for this phenomenon is that has you do the

introduction tape at a very slow speed. It's harder to hold your

balance at that speed. You can tell by watching the people in the

classs who struggle with their balance on that tape. It's gets easier

when the kicks speed up a bit. BUT, that doesn't mean to skip the

introduction tape; it is necessary to learn the basic moves and form;

just don't get frustrated with your balance problems in the beginning

and use the chair whenever you want.

!!! Welcome to the group. Kicks take time and you will always be

perfecting them and getting them higher. You will feel better once you get

your balance in a week or two. Don't give up no matter what because once you

really start to master those moves the feeling is incredible!!!!!

Welcome to the group! You will find TONS of support and motivation

here....it is a great group! Try not to worry about mastering the

kicks right in the beginnning, it will come with time. Don't be afraid

to use a chair for balance and really focus on your form.....form is

more important than speed! Let us know how it goes once you've tried

the Basic tape!

Welcome aboard, ! Just do the Instructional Tape for a

while...taking breaks as you need them...until your iron pills take

effect. You'll get lots of encouragement here!
