Guest guest
Yesterday I had a stapled hemorrhoidectomy. It was my third procedure for hemorrhoids since 2003. The other two were another stapled surgery done in 2003 and rectal prolapse surgery in 2007.The general surgeon who did yesterday's surgery told me that I should stop any kind of weight lifting. This was discouraging news to me since weight training has helped to keep me healthy. It is also an activity that I love. I'm careful with my breathing and in 2007 I stopped doing exercises that would obviously affect my rectum like squats and leg presses. There is no proctologist in Eureka, CA, so I plan to consult with a specialist in San Francisco in the near future. In the meantime, however, I'm wondering if anyone else has faced a similar situation. Has anyone else been told not to lift weights because of problems with hemorrhoids?Joe
