Hi everyone

I would liketo get information and feedback from your experiences

with children with aspergers . I have two kids myself (ds is 2 & dd

is 4), and my nephew has come to live with us. He is turns 7 this

month, and has been diagnosed with aspergers. My hubby is deployed.

I really need help on daily simple things, that have become a great

challenge. I need to learn more about how " he is wired " , so that I

can better comunicate with him and taylor life to help him. He has

been very agressive towards me and my daughter, but is fine with my

son.

He does attend school, and is high functioning. He is always moving,

constantly making sounds, and screaming, hitting his cousin... It

has been hard to handle...He purposefully does things to scare her

because he finds it funny to see her cry, as he has told me. I know

that he needs sctructure and routine, but even as I try to implement

this I can't say that I have been succesful. From the time he gets

off the school bus, he is already jumping, screaming, and it just

makes me feel at a loss... I tried a few different things as a

transition from school to home,but I haven't found a good choice. I

spoke to his teacher at school, (he is mainstreamed) and she says

that overall he has been behaving just fine, (with very few

exceptions related to not staying quiet and following directions),

so I came to the conclusion that he has been holding it all in until

he comes home. It is great taht he has been behaving well at school,

though! I have tried letting him run and play in the backyard, but

he is highly allergic to the grass/insects, and he ends up full of

bumps and can hardly stop scratching himself at bedtime if he has

been outdoors for over 30 minutes...

Please hel pme with your experiences, ideas, any info and feedback.

I really need to hear from you guys!

Thanks, and I'm sorry for the loooong post.
