Guest guest
Hello. After trial and error I finally figured out that when I run BioExplorer through my monitor, I do not get the binaural beats; however when I disable the monitor and run through the laptop, I do. After I learned this, I am able to make the switch; however if I switch back to the monitor, it does not get any sound. To get sound I need to close and reopen BioExplorer. Now that I know what to do, it won't be as frustrating; but it still takes time. I tried different sound settings on the monitor's menu and got no change. Is there something I could set differently that would enable the binaural beats to be heard through the monitor? I greatly appreciate any suggestions. Guest guest
Hi Millie, Just a quick note. Though I don't know quite what you mean by MONITOR (I understand MONITOR to mean "computer screen" and not speaker, though some monitors have speakers). You should use headphones to obtain any result from the binaural beats. An ambient warble will be only slightly heard and even less effective. My suggestion is to try this: 1- Start the system up WITH monitor and also headphones in your PHONE jack. 2- See if you hear the warble of the BBeats. Hope this helps, From: millie@...Date: Tue, 26 Jun 2012 20:14:16 +0000Subject: binaural beats issue Hello. Guest guest
Hi Millie - I did my dissertation on binaural beats. I can't quite tell from the conversation so far whether your plan would be to play the audio signal through your speakers or through your headphones. An important distinction is that when the two signal tones are heard through speakers, the third beat you hear is a physical sound in the airwaves - a simple beat. When the tones are instead presented through headphones so that each ear can hear only one of the two tones, the third beat (the binaural beat) is produced inside the nervous system and is not an actual sound. Proponents of binaural beats generally believe binaural beats are superior to simple beats in influencing brainwave states or performance on some task or behavior. As a side note, through my research I was unable to find scientific support for the usefulness of binaural beats, either in published studies or in my own experiment. I would love to learn that binaural beats actually do something beneficial. GW > > Hi , > > > > Yes, you are correct, by monitor I mean separate computer screen and my > monitor does have speakers. Guest guest
Thanks GW, To answer your question, I plug headphones in the monitor’s speaker jack. Until I figure out something else, I will disable the monitor and run any protocols with binaural beats through the laptop computer. I am interested in your research especially “the third beat (the binaural beat) is produced inside the nervous system and is not an actual sound.” From my understanding, binaural beats drive or entrain the brain to achieve specific brainwave states whereas EEG trains or teaches the brain to achieve these states. I also was told although binaural beats entrain the brain, they do not train or teach the brain to self-regulate and achieve the desired state on its own; in other words the effects do not last. I think combining it with Neurofeedback is useful in that it helps the brain to achieve the desired state and then rewards it for being there. Also, in Alpha-Theta sessions, binaural beats I believe are necessary to guide the person to reach their subconscious.
