Guest guest
Dave, You have been driven by one of those fallen angels to give us their memories of the way they have suffered not just in the physical pain but in the spiritual pain for being negletted by their own family and by the humanity. The people who were in the governement of that time should not be excused in front of God for the genocide they have achieved for ignorance, fear and political reasons. All the best. from San Francisco From: Ellenberg <dave1956@...>Subject: my beautiful fallen heroes Date: Friday, January 29, 2010, 8:09 AM Morning group!Hope you're all having an excellent New Year. Here's to good health for 2010.I created this little video in response to the obituaries that were recently archived online.http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=AjI1TuphQigIn the early 1980's San Francisco's Bay Area Reporter newspaper started listing AIDS deaths. From the mid 80s to mid 90s each Thursday morning I'd pick up my copy of the BAR newspaper and turn directly to the obituary section which often had 3-4 pages of listings. For a while it became a surreal ritual almost like the scene in Gone With The Wind when the Civil War casualties were posted. You could literally hear gasps echo in and around the Castro neighborhood. Recently someone from the BAR painstakingly scanned, uploaded, and archived every single obituary since 1981. This is my reaction to the overwhelming feeling I got when I started to read them. I remembered how disfigured and hollow those young and good looking men became, how they suffered in pain, how they were scorned and turned away from their own families for all the usual reasons; ignorance, fear, religion, and yes hate. All that still exists today towards LGBT but thankfully on a much smaller scale. I dedicate this video to all my fallen brothers that didn't live long enough to see the LGBT community rise from the ashes and gain equality. In this video I have only half the last names beginning with an A. That's only a drop in the bucket, there were thousands upon thousands. I also added many of my personal friends. This is for my beautiful fallen heroes..I first heard the incredible Leonard Cohen sing this haunting melody a couple of months ago. I can't think of a more perfect song. It's called Dance Me To The End of Love.Hugs, in SF
