During or after.  See if his parents can get the doctor to begin reducing the dosage.  If he's falling asleep in the session, he's probably pretty significantly overmedicated.Pete-- Van Deusen

Hi listmates,

I have been training a 13 year old boy who is taking Prozac. I stopped the last 2 sessions early as he was starting to fall asleep. He had difficulty opening his eyes and was groggy. As this is an overmedication symptom of Prozac, do the signs manifest during the training session? Thanks.

All the best,

Millie

Thanks Pete,

I did suggest this to his mother after the second time it happened. She said it

is a minimal dose and she is planning to take him off the Prozac at the end of

February as he had been on it for 6 mo. I told her I thought it may need to be

sooner than later. Since she has not this yet, should I postpone the training

until after he is off the Prozac?

Hi Pete,

I did a bipolar wideband squash at P3P4. I should have probably stuck with EO,

but decided to try EC as I didn't think a wideband squash would be a problem. I

paused at five minutes and he was fine. At 6 1/2 minutes his EEG quieted, at 8

1/2 mins. his head started to bob, and we stopped the session at a little under

9 1/2 mins. He did not fall asleep, but said he was feeling that way.

I did talk to his mom and she was skeptical that the sleep problem was

attributed to the Prozac. She also said he had a particularly tough week and

had exhibited the issues (easily agitated, difficulty getting up in the morning,

etc.) he had before taking the Prozac. I pointed out that these were also signs

of overmedication and although she was reluctant, hopefully convinced her to

contact the doctor.

He is scheduled to have another session this week and even if the doctor has

reduced his dosage, Prozac stays in the system for awhile. I am planning to

stick with only EO training for now; however I thought maybe I should just do

HRV training for a week or so until his system balances. Also, in your

experience how long should I wait before attempting EC training again?

Thanks~Millie
