Watch out for those killer avocados -- the worse gas and diarrhea I had post

GR-DS was from avocados!

I'm sorry you're not doing so well, and glad that Dr. K, Dee and Dawn are on

patrol with you! I hope you are feeling better really soon. Congratulations

on getting rid of the wound vac -- how liberating!

Hugs and blessings, Ann

Jim,

Your not the biggest whiner...Please refer to my " Help, I'm miserable

Post " .....LOL. Be glad your near Dr. K, as I have no good doc to whine to. So

I'm whining about that....LOL. I feel for you and the car trouble. Mine didn't

crank and the truck jumped time the next week....This was not too long to go.

It's bad to have 3 drivers in the house and not a car working for 2 days!

So great about the wound. It has been a while hasn't it? How long? I

think that gives you a right to whine. I feel completely with you about the

cramps!! I have bad foot cramps when my feet get cold. 2 times at football games

I thought I was gonna have to get the EMTS to cart me back to the car on a

stretcher because I couldn't put my foot down!!...LOL.

I think your in good hands. Oh I think the protein that I took had

pulled some fluid off of me, I think that's why I dropped so much. I didn't see

a

lot of swelling but it was all over. The protein shakes that week made me pee

something fierce and I dropped all that weight. Maybe that's what is wrong?

Just an idea.....

in Bama(who can out whine the best

of 'em!)

Jim,

Way to drive a nurse out of state! And, hey, don't you have a PCP?

Sheesh. Of course, this PCP has been having diarrhea for more than

two weeks, herself. I think it is improving. At least it stopped

burning and is only in the morning now, that is better, huh?

Hello, everyone out there in DS land,

I saw our beloved Doctor K this afternoon. It was an interesting visit, to

say the least.

I had gained 13 pounds since I saw him last (28 pounds, really, but lost

enough to make it only 13 on his scales). He asked what was up with that,

and I had no explanation for him. He had me get up on the examination

" table, " and when he touched my stomach, he said, " oh, this explains it. " He

showed me how, when he just barely touched my tummy, it sent ripples all the

way to the other side. He explained that that means I am retaining " a

significant amount of water. " (Later when I did this to myself, I found

that I'm holing water in my legs and thighs, too.)

He looked at my " gaping hole " and I helped him pull the beer-belly-overhang

up, so he could see and I said that I thought the overhang was part of the

reason the wound wasn't closing as we expected. He said, " I was just about

to say that. " The up shot is that, he is going to do a " reduction " on me. He

will get rid of all the overhang and at the same time close the wound

surgically. He is also going to get rid of the mons.

I think he felt sorry for me. I mentioned that a certain man on this list

had shared a photo with me of how he looked after his TT, and that he was so

flat that he was almost a 6-packer. Doctor said, " Well, you can't compare

yourself to anyone else, everybody's body is so different. " I said, " I

didn't mean to infer that. It was just that when I saw the pictures.... " Doc

finished my thought by saying, " and you said, 'hey, wait a minute! I got a

raw deal here.' " I could only laugh and tell him, " that about sums it up! "

So, I think that that, and mentioning the depressing I've had for the past 2

months, may have played into his decision to do more reduction. He told the

scheduling nurse that he would also do some liposuction as well.

He wanted to " do me " tomorrow (Friday 12 December)! I mentioned that I have

3 finals that day, and he said I better take the finals. I laughed and said,

" well, maybe this would be a real blessing, Doctor!!! " he laughed. So, on 19

December I will be reduced, again. I have no expectations about this

procedure except I hope it will end the water retention problem. I would

only loose about 1 or 2 pounds from the reduction--my guess, that is.

I gave our Doc a doctor bear. I saw it weeks ago and I knew it was meant for

him. The thing is dressed up in a white lab coat, light reflector on his

head, stethoscope around his neck, and doctor's bag in his paw. As I gave it

to doctor, I said, " you can chuck this right away if you want, but it is so

you. You are loveable like a Teddy bear, and you give more comfort than a

dozen Teddy bears. " He said, " No, I will put it on my desk. I LIKE it. " When

Dawn came in later, she said Doctor Bear was on Doctor K's desk.

I met several new DS brothers and sisters while I waited to see Doctor K.

The two Marthas from Paso; from Santa ( who is 10 days out and

there to have the drains pulled); and two women whose names escape me at the

moment. It's always so fun to sit in the waiting room and have a complete

stranger come up and say, " how long are you out, " or, " which doctor? " When

I introduced myself to one woman, she said, " Flying Monkey Jim??? " LOL As

usual, the office staff all remembered my name, which always amazes me! Even

more amazing, they remembered what we talked about last time I was there,

and asked some follow up questions! How can they possibly remember us all?

Several remarked about the picture of the " old and new " me I sent to Dr. K's

office. The past year sure has been one of many changes. asked if

this was the first time I had had a " shaved head! " Well, my hair is dang

short, but it's not SHAVED! (Nor is it Naired!!!)

Ok, that's it -- I'm off to study some more and then to sleep the sleep of

the condemned. (Name the book.)

Jim,

We will be inmates at the same time!

My hernia repair and panni is scheduled December 19th.

I still do not have insurance approval, but that is another story. I'm

having it done anyway.

I look forward to meeting you, and hubby, the " other Jim " , Jim S, is as

well.

Red hair . I was SURE that was you, but I, too, didn't want to take the

chance as I wasn't 100 percent sure, either. BUT, I knew it was someone I

knew! I had on a sort of semi-Hawaiian shirt. You were just coming out the

main doors as I was approaching them. Dang it all to heck and back! Well,

any road, it was good to see you again!

Hey Jim,

Here is an update on my " clazy loyf. " I see Dad at 1:50 today for a follow

up and a look at the hernia that's back. It's strangulated at least part of

the time, but I'm able to, with much work, get it back in part of the time.

So, his opinion will tell me if spring break is spent in Delano or in Santa

. I'll be bringing a best friend home with me (She had the DS in

August and has lost about 150 pounds) who will be with me for a few days. If

I don't have to stay at the Delano Hilton, I'll be going with her to Santa

for several days.

GYM report. Well, I didn't think the gym was doing much good, but, I've lost

4 pants sizes in 3 weeks. I'm down to a 42 from a 48. Remarkable, isn't it.

At the church-job, a woman who's never spoken to me before came up and said,

" Jim, if you loose any more weight, we won't be able to see you. " LOL I

should LIVE SO LONG. Another friend remarked that it was " very noticeable "

that I'd lost more weight.

I'm almost down to where I was 2 months ago. I keep dropping a few pounds

only to put on 20 pounds of water weight in 2 days, and then it takes a

month or more to drop that 20 pounds plus ONE additional pound. This is so

maddening. I need anorexia or something.

Ok, wish me luck at the appointment, and at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) you

all say a prayer for me (even YOU Kristy!!). I have a final that will give

me an " A " in the class or an " F " .

Jim

Who made Kristy's party picture the wall paper on his lap top, and every one

at the Uni wants to know " Who is hat HOT chick. "

Keep it up Jim and we'll have to bow before you as the hernia King!

After reading that you once again have a hernia I really didn't know

if I should be happy or frustrated for you. Frustrated because

living life as a post-op isn't my idea of fun and enough is enough.

On the other hand....being on the " table " once again is another

opportunity to tidy up some of the previous surgeries.....hummmm.

Well it doesn't really matter because a hernia is what you have and

ya just gotta go forward and deal with it...my prayer is, that it is

your last hernia.

Great gym report....a personal trainer can really get better results

in a shorter period of time than if we just attempt it on our

own...for one thing they are there to teach how to do the moves

properly....also, they don't let you Wimp out! lol Congrats on

getting results for your efforts so quickly.

lol...no Mel you didn't gain 9 pounds of muscle in this week...it

does not work that fast...but...it does work fairly fast...you also

lose it fairly fast when you stop exercising. I did want to point
