RE: People make negative comments about my veiny legs

I used to have a freakishly large buffalo hump and accumulation of fat on the back of my head. I had lipo and the surgeon removed 4 liters off my back and 1.7 liters off my head/neck. Or, as he put it, "two large bottles of coke and seven sticks of butter" (funny guy).

People can be so damn rude. I can understand when the little kids that would look at me and go back to their parents and point at me and go "mama lookit!" but when an adult just comes right out and asks "what's wrong with your neck" and says "you should get it looked at" they have really crossed a line.

Funny story... Just before I got the surgery to correct it, I actually had a guy at Home Depot, an employee of Home Depot no less, approach my husband and I at the self-checkout and proceed to say to me "Please don't be offended if you feel this is not my business but I could not help but notice the back of your neck. Chinese herbal medicine is very powerful and can probably help that". We were both dumbfounded. After the initial shock, we proceeded to tell him loudly, on no uncertain terms, that it WAS none of his business. God, when I think about that now, we must have looked and sounded like a couple of wet hens! Haven't seen him there since though. I think we made a big enough scene. He wasn't even Asian!

I also had had other adults, strangers no less, feel it was OK to ask what was wrong with me or offer their advice.

I just got in the habit of responding with what ever fit my mood at the time. From quietly feigning ignorance "What hump?" to a loud "It's from the medication to control my AIDS asshole!". It can be quite cathartic, makes them look and feel stupid and you have every right to react to these morons as you like. They opened the door with their inappropriate prying.

I took Zerit for 5 years and this caused me to have bad lipodystrophy.I have been to Dr. Serra and Dr. Cassavantes to have pmma injections to help correct the look of my lipodystrophy. They did an terrific job. However, my calf areas are still very veiny and very thin even though I work out with weights every week.I never wear shorts in public except board shorts on vacation when I am at a pool or on a beach. Many strangers make negative comments to me about my veiny thin lower legs. When this happens I become very nervous and depressed.I need help with a comeback to those people so that I can feel at least a little in control when confronted by a stranger.Any suggestions would be very appreciated.Heath
