I don't have an answer, but it seems somewhat common. When I was at an

autism meeting, with Dr. Wakefield as one of the speakers, one of the moms

there asked about light colored stools and other parents did a lot of

nodding. The same question happened a few months later at a another autism

meeting where the guest speaker was a DAN doctor. I was interested

because when my son was ill with regressive autism, one of his stools came

out putty colored.

It seems that there was no real consensus about what caused it. I look

forward to hearing what could be causing it besides liver or bile malfunction.

All the best,

Avril

is he gf/cf? If so, that sometimes can be the cause and adding some molybdenum

usually helps.

White or light stool

I took my son to the doctor the other day because my son was complaining of a

tummy ache. I told the doctor that my son's stool is usually white or off-white

to a clay color. I put him on the kirkman labs enzymes and his stool turned a

more natural brown color. My doctor told me that that color stool is only

caused by liver disease. He is running some blood tests. My son is 8. If it

were liver disease, wouldn't he have other symptoms? I was wondering if it

could be celiac disease. Or hopefully something less serious. Does anyone have

any ideas on this?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

No. He is dairy free and Dairifree free :)

Thanks,

Re: White or light stool

Hello,

He hasn't by any chance been drinking Vance's Dairifree has he?

That'll do it. Just thought I'd mention it.

White or light stool

I took my son to the doctor the other day because my son was complaining of

a tummy ache. I told the doctor that my son's stool is usually white or

off-white to a clay color. I put him on the kirkman labs enzymes and his stool

turned a more natural brown color. My doctor told me that that color stool is

only caused by liver disease. He is running some blood tests. My son is 8. If

it were liver disease, wouldn't he have other symptoms? I was wondering if it

could be celiac disease. Or hopefully something less serious. Does anyone have

any ideas on this?

Thanks for your help.

It's a metal, you can read about it here.

http://www.merck.com/pubs/mmanual/section1/chapter4/4i.htm. The G/FC/F diet is

often low in molybdenum and from parents anecdotal reports, it seems that kids

get the clay stool when they go G/FC/F and molybdenum helps turn the stool back

to a normal color. If he is not G/FC/F then it's quite abnormal to have this

problem and it very well could be a deficiency in enzymes, doesn't necessarily

have to be liver disease. A lot of kids had abnormal BM's until they were on

secretin. Have you seen anything else from the enzymes, behavior, cognitive,

etc.?
