Guest guest
Hi ,For assistance in making decisions about Medicare plans (Advantage, supplement, and Part D drug plans), contact your local State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). A national directory of SHIPs can be found at http://www.shipusa.org/Find_a_State_SHIP.html. In Georgia, the SHIP is Georgia Cares http://aging.dhr.georgia.gov/portal/site/DHR-DASI agree with 's advice about using Medicare instead of trying to get a new primary insurance policy. I also agree that Medicare Advantage plans are a wise choice if your providers participate in a plan offered in your area, as Advantage plans cover co-pays and deductibles. Co-pays can mount to very high levels if you develop serious medical problems requiring hospitalization or extensive outpatient treatment, and Advantage plans cover these costs. The number of Advantage plans offered in your area may be fewer than in the past and costs for such plans may be higher in the future, as health care reform will gradually reduce the government subsidy these plans have enjoyed in the past. If your providers don't participate in Medicare Advantage plans or you decide for some other reason to stick with traditional Medicare, then you may wish to consider a Medicare supplement plan to cover co-pays and deductibles. There are several types of Medicare supplement plans, each identified by a different letter of the alphabet offering different coverage. Various carriers offer the various types of supplement plans, but it shouldn't make any difference which carrier you choose, as the coverage should be identical within any type of supplement plan. I'd pick the cheapest one.******************************************************************************************I have been on my husbands insurance but he will be laid off at the end of the year.
