Fz and Pz and their linkage are strongly related to the so-called brain default network.  There have been a number of posts on the list over the past year or two about the increasing interest in what the brain does when it's not doing anything else.  Training to increase synchrony in alpha, theta and gamma have been shown to have positive effects for many clients.  Cz is a crucial site for many reasons, and it has been one I've wanted to have in the standard set for a long time.  I don't know that there should be much synchrony between Cz and Oz, but those sites on the midline fill out the full cingulate (with Fz and Pz) and give a picture of the occipital lobe if O1 and O2 optional sites aren't chosen.

Hi Pete,

What's the rationale for grouping Fz and Pz together, and Cz and Oz together? My thought was that if you split it up with the closer sites together (ie. Fz and Cz, Pz and Oz), you would get useful coherence data along the midline.

Thanks, Chivers

Hi Pete

I favour your rationale.
