What happens in logic, imagination, or theory does not necessarily get

to happen in real life.

When I don't understand something that my clients say or write, I ask

them about it — just as I ask people here. When I ask clients about

something I don't understand, they explain it — case closed.

When I have to ask clients about something I don't understand, the

clients explain what they meant, and we go on to the next thing.

No client has told me that (e.g.) if I just became a nicer person,

used my intelligence, sounded out the words, and/or appropriately

perceived context cues, I would really understand. Naturally, this

leaves me feeling a lot more comfortable with my clients than I often

feel here. I would like to feel at least as comfortable here as I feel

at work. So ... what do I have to do in order to get talked to here

(not just at work) in a way that would feel more comfortable?

I don't " delight " in the discomfort — I find it painful.

I'll act accordingly. Does this mean that, if I don't understand

something, I shouldn't ask? (In other words, does asking about

something not understood indicate the wrong " level of expectancy " ?)

Do as you please, my concience is untroubled.

But common courtesy is definitely not your thing : )

Personal attacks are not tolerated, yarahui. Please post accordingly.

Thank you.

Sometimes when people post here I don't understand quite what they

are saying, even though I know they are expresing themselves as best

they can. But I know from experience that asking for them to clarify

would not accomplish anything except to frustrate them. In these

instances, I elect to let it go.

I don't like to frustrate people.

" Does this mean that, if I don't understand something, I shouldn't

ask? "

It's a judgement call.

Sometimes I do not understand everything everyone says, but I value

their companionship and friendship so much that I do not wish to

jeopardize it by nit-picking.

" (In other words, does asking about something not understood

indicate the wrong " level of expectancy " ?) "

I think asking someone to clarify what they meant is okay.

But spelling errors happen. And some people use vocabulary that

we've never heard before. In the first instance, we can guess at

meaning. In the second instance, we can look up the word.

In reply to what I said:

" P.S. Motto for the day: Common courtesy is not just an NT construct. "

My answer to this:

Common courtesy wasn't her thing either. She left the forum without

giving me time to reply to her statement.

" Who did, Tom? "

Yarahui left. Which is fine. Members can come and go as they please.

Although I am hard pressed to know why I should accept her back if she

re-applied to the forums given her hypocrisy.
