Guest guest
Hi , I am a Special Education Advocate in California. There are a lot of school districts that provide these services as well as regional center. What state are you in? I'll be happy to help. Guest guest
Our town school in CT offers an ABA program but it helps if your child is diagnosed to get more services as ours wasn't. He is just now getting diagnosed at 5.5 yrs. It is a limited program and we have to fight for more ABA as our " pre-k " portion seems worthless for educating our son. We are at our crossroads as far as asking for more...ABA in the home?, more at school? We just got 3 more hours per day at yesterday's PPT meeting. We have a CT statute 504 that states if you are not getting enough services for your child's disability that the school must provide them. Also if your child is not improving with ABA it is not the fault of the child but the instructor...I think I saw that on an ABA website...I need to look that up again. We are also thinkng of linking up with a local university grad students for ABA home sessions....at the expense of the school?....might be our next step with this statute. I am sorry to hear about your MD's dropping you. We " dumped " ours as she has continually misdiagnosed our son and looking back has also mis-treated him aiding in his demise along with the vaccines. We still use her for insurance purposes only as I only go in to tell her what tests we want performed...I guess I like to torture her a little. Of course I have a $400 dollar deductable yearly and then I get coverage at 65% after that which I guess is better than nothing but it still adds up. We hooked up with a great MD who got fed up with mainstream health care and went out on her own to treat " our " kids. If you'd like to tell me what state your in I could see if she knows of anyone in your area. All I can say is don't be afraid and push for those tests. I am sure that someone on this list can help you find a doctor in your area to assist you. Mike > Hello, Does anyone know of any schools that provide ABA, and are > excepting new students? Guest guest
Dear , Thank you for your empathy. I've never spoken w/anyone who can relate to my situation. I've just learned how to use the computer and for my child's sake, I wish I would have learned the computer research methods earlier! I am in Ohio, and Dr. G is in California. I'm planning to try w/the Doctors here, but if can't get them to budge- We will make the trip to California. I know my son needs ABA, and I want to get ABA Therapy for him. Do you know if ABA does there own evaluations? I'm afraid if I take him for a Neuropsych. Eval. here, they won't give him a recommendation for ABA and then I won't even be able to get him on a waiting list for treatment? If ABA did the evaluation, I know they would recommend treatment. I don't trust the Doctor's or school's here, bottom line here is $$$ according to them he isn't worth the $$$(expense), and they'd rather spend alot of $$$ later to institutionalize him. My point is if these children need institutional care when they are !9. Why have the parents ever had any direction on the most appropriate way to raise them or provide for there needs?), and how can they not need medical care, therapy/education from birth to 18 years of age, then suddenly need it when they are 19? I know if my son had received ABA therapy beginning at age 2, it would have changed his destiny and mine. I'm so desperate to get ABA therapy for him - I'm terrified by the thought of me passing, and my son being put in an Institution. I am praying so hard that I can find ABA Evaluators.THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...Your letter was a sight for soar eyes!!! Sincerely, EDUCATION > Dear , > I am so sorry for all the grief that you have been put through. > What state are you in, I'm in Canada so I can't be a lot of help with > you questions but I'm sure that there are lots of supporters out > there who will be happy to guide you. Guest guest
> we are using LIFE formerly NJIEI out of New Jersey for our son's ABA services. There is a BBS service on the internet called the ME-LIST where you can find out addtl info on ABA and ABA services. Not knowing what state you're in I can't give you any information on what might/might not be available. Each state seems to be different. Md has an autism waiver that went into effect in June. I havent' found a family yet that is having their ABA paid for via this waiver. But the waiver is good for other things. Health Insurance cos differ as well. I've heard of some that will pay for ABA costs. Bill Gates is now paying for his employees' ABA costs .... We are funding our son's ABA program via fundraisers held by friends and family members. We've been doing it for 2.5 yrs ... We've discovered that a combination of ABA + + diet is proving to be a nice mix. heals the body ; ABA trains the mind; diet keeps the nasties away .... As for finding a physician who will help - keep searching. They're out there. And try not to have them use a code of 'autism' on the paperwork. This will raise a red flag each time. Dr G's office can provide you with a list of valid codes to use, esp if you're using his protocol. Our 6 yr old son became a patient of Dr G's last year. We've had ups and downs; good days and bad days. But Dr G has been right on almost every account. - his allergy panel has become more 'natural'. His food allergy tests done 2 yrs ago were everywhere. He was showing intolerances to almost every food group. Tests done while we were visiting Dr G in August are showing allergies to a handful of foods (casein, nuts, garlic, honey and eggs). ** does anyone know what a 'shift to the right' means?? - is more healthy. He sleeps better (and thru the night). His eyes are clear and the dark circles have almost disappeared. - We've done the supplement route which lasted only 3 mths. Dr G's protocol seems to have more lasting effects even tho they take longer to reach. is on an antiviral, antifungal, SSRI, iron supplement and now kutapressin. The kutapressin journey started last Friday and has proven to be an interesting trip. We're noticing small things happening. Some good / some not so good. The not so good items include countering authority. Much like a 3-4 yr old. We're assuming this is a good thing ) as we never had this stage with him. He stopped 'growing' around 2 yrs old. - the neurospect we had done in Aug was extremely encouraging (not to mention interesting to look at). I wish we had had one done 2 yrs ago so that we had one to compare it against. Keep plugging away. Present your evidence to the physicians. As Dr G would say - the hard physical evidence will win them out. You can't argue with the facts. doris land http://steve_doris.tripod.com http://nids.net http://www.neuroimmunedr.com > Message: 3 > Date: Fri, 02 Nov 2001 13:18:05 -0000 > From: ladams8@... > Subject: EDUCATION > > Hello, Does anyone know of any schools that provide ABA, and are > excepting new students? Guest guest
My endorsement of ABA was based upon my own personal bias, by the way it is done in our home. I feel that lumping all ABA therapists into one group would be akin to putting all doctors into one group. I think being your childs best advocate you should carefully examine any therapy or therapist and decide what is in your childs best interest. My childs therapists do not do mundane rote drills, but rather work on skills that transfer over into real life skills, they make ABA fun and functional. ABA is done in his preschool involving other children. They also work very closely with his OT and speech therapist, utilizing their knowledge. My child is being treated as a child so I guess we are doing okay.
Guest guest
Hello from New York! Guest guest
Hi rcovucci! Thanks for the web site, but it gets me nowhere. Nothing comes up. Also, I have seen the Doctor's website, yet i have seen nothing that could be called research. People here have siad that his theory starts in the immune system. But what happens from that point, specifically , in the brain? thanks, bonnie l
