Guest guest
Hi all, It has been almost 4 weeks since my TT and I'm getting bored with recovery! I am very short of breath and so tired I can't stand it any more. I'm pushing protein and plenty of water and extra vitamins and WHAA I want my Mom! LOL geeze I'm not used to feeling bad or tired! Could this really be normal to feel this Sleepy this many weeks out from surgery? I have to stop after a few hundred feet of walking to catch my breath and then I can't really FILL my lungs like I used to. Am I being a big baby or is this normal? Now I notice that my incision isn't healing as well as I thought it was... nothing major but there are very small spots that are still draining. just small spots. but it had all stopped 2 weeks ago. I'm sure I'm over reacting. OK I HOPE I'm over reacting. LOL Ed in Vegas
Guest guest
Ed, It is hard to tell from reading, but you might be right on track. I was still tired, draining from a frank hole and even in pretty bad pain sometimes at four weeks out. The pain was directly related to swelling with me. I was on call and it about killed me. Other times I felt fine. Oh, the breathing, well, that only lasted a couple days for me. I wear the binder and girdle stuff all the time so can't really expand for a deep breath anyway. Maybe that is why I don't notice anything. I get this sort of visceral, deep thirsty feeling. A weird feeling. Makes me think of those Louis Lamour novels where the gut-shot guy is begging for water. Guest guest
Ed, Yeah, you are normal. Aches, pains, and whininess included. Just soak it for all it is worth. Gather the pity. Yeah, yeah. Actually, yes. You can still feel tired, tight chested, etc. I know that I ate very little and felt very full for the first several weeks. The breathing thing may be something to work on. OK I HOPE I'm over reacting. LOL > Ed in Vegas Hi Ed Iknow most on this board will tell you that this is much easier than the ds and they breezed thru it. But I am here to tell you mine was not. I had much, much more pain than the DS. I had more trouble getting around than I did from the DS and it took me much longer to heal than the DS. It took forever for me to feel nornal again. I hated feeling so poopy. Now my take on the reasons why.... Before the DS I felt tired and poopy all the time, so having surgery was no big deal Then after surgery I felt great as the pounds started to drop. By the time I had my PS I felt terrific, lots of energy and zest for life. Then - BAM - surgery and I felt poopy again. Then I resented feeling that way. Before the DS I had no eating problems and restrictions. After the DS I had the " expected " problems and they didnt bother me. I became accustomed to them. Then I felt great, and fantastic, etc. Then came the PS, I didnt expect the restrictions on eating again, breathing again etc, and I resented them. Then there was the unexpected pain. Of course I had extensive work done, and then had the unexepted blisters, but I just wasnt ready for the pain. I didnt experience it with the DS as much as I did the PS. The tiredness took forever to go away. Maybe due to the anethesia? and the fact that my PS was 6 hours as opposed to 3 with the DS. I dont know. I do know we are all different, and you have my sympathy and prayers. It took me a couple of months before I said I was glad I did it. I am glad I did it, I am glad it is over, and very pleased with the outcome. Would I do it again? MMMMMmmm....I am not sure I would have the courage. But probably yes. It was worth getting rid of those problematic bulges on the top of my thighs. Glad to get rid of the small hernias before they got big and caused more problems. Glad I dont have that apron or the rashes that come with it. I know this is a hard time for you. But better days are coming, you will see sunshine soon, and have energy soon, I promise! Guest guest
Hi Ed, I'm so sorry you are still dealing with these issues, but they sound kind of par for the course (at least for some people -- not Marta). I hope you are feeling better soon and pizza and Crystal Lite don't sound so bad for your New Year's bash. Easy for you and time to enjoy the company. Feel free to indulge your " whine " here, anytime! Hugs and blessings, Ann
