Pam;

I feel for your son - dry mouth/excessive thirst is one of the symptoms that

has followed me from medication to medication. It's very irritating, but at

least it's not the worst side-effect to have! On the plus side, though, I

probably drink in excess of 20 glasses of water a day, which makes my doctor

very happy *G*.

-

------------------------------

My 9 1/2 year old son also was diagnosed with OCD about 2 years ago. We

gradually started on Luvox and now have been at 200 mg (100 morning and

night) a day for about a year. It has done wonders for him and our family,

and the only side effect that has really shown itself is excessive thirst.

He

is allowed a water bottle at school and he drinks alot of water at home, so

it's no big deal. Hope Luvox works for your son!

Penny;

Did the psychiatrist explain her reasoning in not suggesting a medication to

start with? It seems very odd to me that she wants you to pick a starter

medication without giving you more background on each of the choices. The

psych I see nowadays will let me pick new meds to try, but that's because

I've walked through about 3/4 of the ones out there already and have a lot

of experience with enduring medication changes.

Prozac can be very effective for some (I take a very low dosage to

supplement my Serzone), but can have some hellacious side-effects on other

folks. My personal experience has been that the newer the medication, the

fewer the side-effects (on average), but that will differ from person to

person considerably. I've had wonderful results with Serzone, but (like all

of the meds) it works for some, but not for others. Zoloft worked well for

me in the past, but after a year its effectiveness wore off.

Good luck!

---------------------------------------------

<snip>

Since then we have had an appt. with a therapist and

yesterday our first appt. with the psychiatrist. It was the

strangest meeting I have ever been part of. Which leads to my

question.which drug to start my daughter on? The doc. and us

agree

that Jodi may be helped by medication. The doc. asked me which one I

wanted to put her on. She wouldn't recommend one over another.

She

just handed us a bunch of pamphlets (published by drug companies) and

said to read these and if we decide to go ahead with medication to

call her office and she would call in the prescription of our

choice. None of the pamphlets pacifically stated about the use in

children.

,

My 11 yo son takes Serzone too with good results. We tried everything else and either had horrible side effects or the drug was ineffective. Since my son isn't very good at equating what the med does for him, would you mind telling me how the Serzone makes you feel? I give him 300 mgs at bedtime and it is the only way he can go to sleep. It also seems to control his anxiety through the following day.

Thanks!

,

Sometimes when the dose of SSRI is too much this happens. Also how long has

your son been on the antifungal? They need to be switched every six months

because they lose their effectiveness.

Noelle,

Don't you believe it. I was told my son would never be normal and most

autistic kids end up in institutions or jail. This was from the leading

authority on autism in the Twin Cities. She couldn't have been more wrong.

My son started with Dr. G at almost five. He is now thirteen, gets straight

A's, has friends, and is indistinguishable from his peers. Thank God I

didn't listen to that stupid shrink.

My son did not do well on Paxil, he gradually became more aggressive and

stimming increased. He did great on Celexa and has been on it since August.

Each child is different and different ssri's work for different kids so dont

give up.

My daughter ended the 5th grade last year doing 3rd grade reading and 1st

grade math. She is now in the 6th grade doing 7th grade poetry, 6th grade

prose and between 4th and 5th grade math. Science and social studies are also

age level. I was told many times that she did not have the potential to do

any of this. The protocol made the difference. She has been on it for 22

months. Kathy -NNY

Hi All,

I'm new to the list and have been reading the postings which are very

informative and I am learning along the way.

I have 2 questions: Firstly: I'd really like to get a zapper like Hulda

has described in her books. Not being a technical person myself I'm

looking into buying a unit. So far so good. With all the information

around I came across a zapper/blood purifier by Dr. Beck. And now I'm

confused. Does anyone have experience with either or perhaps both, and

which one would be the one to purchase. Any information would be greatly

appreciated.

My second question is: what is meant by COPD?

Thanks

Hi Friends, Sorry, I'm pressed for time but want to send my deepest

condolences to Dan and his wife...your family will be remembered in my

thoughts and prayers.

Also, Lorie : Be careful. Be alert. Have someone keep a watch / check in on

you over you during the next few days... it can be quite dangerous and could

possibly put you in the hospital. I don't mean to scare you but we had

decided to strip me of my meds to confirm a diagnosis and I got quite sick

to say the least. Please exercise care and be aware that you may not be

fully capable of figuring out how sick you are getting ! (Happened to

me...thought I was fine...was actually delirious and hospital bound.) I did

get my definitive diagnosis and we were prepared for the possibility of such

a situation as I'm sure you and your docs are but hon, please be careful. I

felt compelled to share this although I'm sure you are quite aware of what

could happen. I will send you my best thoughts to keep you well enough to be

home and *still* get the diagnosis you need.

Love, Sharon S. in PA

, where in Mass do you live? I'm in Boston and I see a great endo.

Her name is Brunt and she's at Cambridge Hospital. She's not too

personal, but she knows her stuff and was willing to give me T3 and do

extensive testing.

I'll have to share some of the personal messages I've received

lately from Dr Healy... perhaps he will begin to glow again...

I rarely post here - I am in the boise area , PNW but not close enough

to attend 'stuff'. But I had a question. Does anyone know of a soup

night going on in the everett area? Someone asked me the other day and I

wasn’t sure....

Is there something organized there?
