Guest guest
Barbara - All you ever needed to know about what to take with you, and what you'll need at home... is listed in your white binder/bible from Dr K's office. So much depends on the individual though. You won't need books or magazines, as your fuzzy little brain won't concentrate post-anesthetic. You will be more comfortable with a cover-up of some kind for those frequent hall walks... & slippers that will NOT slip on the slick floors. Bobbe - <91 pounds> If you can dream it... you can do it! God, give me the dream that you planned for my life. (Don't postpone joy.)

You are going to do just fine. I believe Jo has put something in the files about what to take if you read from the board like I do. Guest guest
Ok, you women are far too complicated. It's like my female friend who goes away for ONE NIGHT and takes 3 suitcases!!! Here is what a male says you need... 1 large bottle of your favourite wonderful smelling shampoo (use for body and hair) 1 extra pair of underwear (wash the ones you wear in the sink) Cell phone or phone card Slippers " Feminine stuff " for the " Curse " Something loose to change into to go home. Anything else you need you can have your support person get for you. But you won't need anything else. When I had the DS switch, I my school backpack stuffed with things. I needed the underwear, shampoo, slippers, and cell phone, and that was it. Jim, who is the last word on all things females need. See how simple my list is!!!! But then, I'm a man. _____ From: positivelyann@... But then, I'm a man. You won't really need underpants. Chapstick is important because they do not have anything like that in the hospital, trust me! Guest guest
Boy, I did. I didn't like the feeling exposed every time the dang gown was yanked up to examine or give me a shot.... and then, walking down the hall with underwear under the wear made me more comfortable than having my fat butt jiggling for all to see!!!! Jim who bets Sindee didn't take underwear with her to the hospital _____ From: Marta S. Guest guest
Jim...ya wanna know what I Actually took to the hospital? Gonna tell ya anyway! I wore a loose pullover house dress slip on house slippers That's it..just what I wore on my body...didn't even wear underware cuz I figured I'd just have to take it off anyway. What I wore into the hospital, I wore home. While I was in the hospital they gave me a Kit that had a toothbrush and comb, shampoo in it. I figured if I needed anything else my husband could bring it to me. I had surgery in the " old " days before the " wing " was open and didn't have a shower by Carmen...In fact I was left in the bathroom to fend for myself, when I came back out they helped put the binder back on. When I had my surgery I didn't even have my husband stay with me, he just visited each evening...I told him it would drive me nuts him hanging around bored so just go earn me some money cuz I was going to want a tummy tuck in a year! It honestly surprises me to walk into a patients room and they are sitting there all pretty with makeup on...I think Geeze They had to make me comb my hair before I walked the halls..lol. Jo Sitting here reflecting on the good ol days cus it's only 47 more day until my 3 year DS anniversary.

Something that did keep me entertained was my laptop. I was able to go online and download the messages from the support groups (I use email delivery instead of actually logging on to the groups), along with my other email. I could then read these offline, compose replies, and send them the next time I logged on. It also gave access to her office so she could " put out the fires " that popped up while she was with me in Delano. Jerry
