Guest guest
Hi Bill, I used acupuncture for years as a complementary therapy for both general well-being, improved sleep, stress/anxiety. I found it to be extremely helpful. Sometimes it may not work immediately, but the effects are cumulative. I bought a couple of laymen friendly books on "acupressure" which utilize the same meridians/points as acupuncture so that I could do it for myself as often as I like. One of the books is called "Acupressure's Potent Points: A Guide to Self-Care For Common Ailments" by Gach. The other book is called "Healing With Pressure Point Therapy: Simple Effective Techniques For Massaging Away More Than 100 Common Ailments" by Jack Forem and Shimer L.Ac. Something that you may want to do is, if you go to a acupuncturist and get treated is to ask them to mark some points on your body (one's they specifically recommend for your problems) with a pen (directly on your skin) that you can press on at home. I had my acupuncturist do this for me and it made it easier for me to remember where the points were, even when the pen marks had been washed away. Both acupuncture and acupressure are both nontoxic ways to helping yourself. "Has anyone used acupuncture as a complementary therapy for any specific HIV complications or just general well-being?My viral load is near undetectable & my t-cells are about 400. I get good medical care and feel fine, but I have chronic kidney disease (probably 30% kidney function), osteopenia, hyperlipidemia, and lipodystrophy.BillDetroit
