Guest guest
Hi Pete, Do you recommend doing occipital alpha training at O1 instead of OZ or O2? I found some posts in the archives suggesting that alpha at O1 should be greater than at O2, which of course differs from the usual recommendations for parietal, central, frontal, etc. that right hemisphere alpha should be greater than left hemisphere alpha. Thanks, > > > ** > > > > > > I have a client with alpha peak frequency of 11-12 Hz. > > > > What is the best way to train so that the peak frequency shifts downward > > toward 10 Hz. > > > > > > > > -- > > Dr. R. , Ph.D., C.Psych. > > BCIA - BCN (Board Certified in Neurofeedback) > > ABPP (Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology) > > > > Psychologist and Associate Clinical Professor > > Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences > > G. Guest guest
O1 is the highest alpha site on the brain, but forward of the occipitals, as you note, the higher side is on the right, not the left. I generally train alpha peak up at P4 (just because of the logistics of keeping the electrode on, but O1/A1 also works fine. Probably just as well not to train on the midline. Guest guest
Hi, May I be a bit bold and suggest not to do anything on the 12-15 but instead reduce anything above 19Hz. The 12-15Hz is the activity which the brain has to go to in order to start orient to stimulus. I use this frequency ( a lot) for depression and anxiety. When the 4-6Hz and the 19Hz upwards is reduced and the 10Hz comes afterwards and stays there. :-) Bye for now, ------- Prof.Dr. Alvoeiro,Ph.D.(Hull,UK),C.Psychol.(BPS,UK) 2000-119 Santarem, Portugal E-mail: jorge.alvoeiro@... http://jorge0alvoeiro.no.sapo.pt/ ________________________________ De: em nome de pvdtlc Enviada: seg 06-02-2012 17:10 Para: Assunto: Re: alpha peak frequency training , Increase 8-12 Hz with eyes closed at P4/A2 or O1/A1 and reduce activity at 12-15 Hz. Guest guest
I would also look at their presenting symptoms and train to that, I would imagine with an alpha as high as this that their anxiety is off the scale.
