Researchers in England have used functional MRI (fMRI) to map a disconnect between brain regions that echoes the long-recognized tendency of individuals with major depressive disorder to over-generalize self-blame. While the information needs to be validated, they suggest that fMRI may be able to identify patients with this disorder who are vulnerable to relapse.
