I just read the posts about Lactulose and Lasix...while Lactulose helps the ammonia that builds up in your intestines and you have bowel movements, this is what keeps the brain fog clear. Lasix are for the the swelling of the stomach and ankles. You have to be very careful with the lasix as they can take away from your kidneys at a rate that can put you in renal failure. So make sure they are not to powerful. Lactulose is usually taken while you're on the list for transplant and works wonders as long as you can keep up your CORRECT eating habits, that's low salt and no proteins. They have a ensure out now for Liver patients. Watch your nutrition at this stage, it is critical. You'll get that transplant!!!!!! Really pay attention to those 2 medications, they are the last two before your transplant, and if you find your losing any weight really check out that ensure for Hepatic patients, it is great!!

Oh, one more thing, if you get tapped for your ascities, make sure they lighten up your lasix, because that's the harder fluid to control. Keep your feet up as much as possible and keep your head held high. You'll be a new man after transplant!!!!!!!!! P.S. Your doctor can tell you exactly where you are on the transplant list, they list you at a statis and your statis goes up each time they say, tap you, or your billirubin go up etc.I know it sounds creepy, but it's the way it works. I also see a "holistic" type guy for herbs and vitamins. He's really helped me a lot in the past 4 months. At least you got your transplant quickly. My Doc keeps thinking I'm getting close, and it just terrifies me. Happy Friday Everyone!

Just to touch base...

My husband's labs came back. You were all

correct...his ammonia was 135. We see the Dr next

week! His CT scan was not that unusual but his labs

are still out of this world. His tumor markers are

619-slightly lower than last time.

I will keep everyone posted!

Make it a good day!

Kathy

Our appointment is next week...so I will certainly

make sure of it! I am concerned his platelets and red

blood cells have dropped so much.

Thank you for your thoughts!
