Guest guest
I cannot believe they require a 6 month period without insurance in order to qualify for the interim coverage. My COBRA just ended and Georgia does not have a high risk pool. They do have an assignment system as they call it, so I can get limited coverage with a high monthly premium and huge co-pays and deductibles (about $5,000/year plus the premiums). What a great choice. Dig into the 401K or go without meds and monitoring for half a year. These people just don't f*%cking get it. From: R. This is insurance for people who otherwise couldn't get insurance before universal coverage is available in 2014. Penalties won't apply until everyone is able to buy regular coverage in 2014. Guest guest
Yes, I agree. That makes no sense at all. Under COBRA it was important to show that you had no lapse in coverage beyond 60 days to ensure that pre-existing conditions would be covered under your new employer. With the job market the way it these days everywhere this makes no sense at all as you wrote. Guest guest
Here is a link to the government site regarding the interim pre-existing plan. They do not list monthly premium prices but your deductable is $2,500 and your total out of pocket has to reach $5,950 before co-pays and deductibles go away. I guess the designers of this plan don't realize how much $5,950 is to the out of work and underemployed people who can not get better coverage and needed this type of safety net. http://www.healthcare.gov/law/about/states/ga.html From: Mike Amoroso [mailto:mikeamor@...] Sent: Friday, June 18, 2010 6:26 PM Subject: RE: Re: Temporary Federal High Risk Insurance Pool Program I cannot believe they require a 6 month period without insurance in order to qualify for the interim coverage.
