That was a surprise. As part of my clinical trail one of the meds I was put on

was Norvir. Today I went to the pharmacy to pick up a Viagara refill and was

told no I oculd not have it becasue it was contradicted by the use of Norvir. No

way would the CVS pharmacist fill it. The pharmacist said no not even Levitra

or Cialis with Norvir. Guess its a good thing I'm mostly a bottom...lol. Anybody

have any experience with this combination?

i believe what your pharmacist did may be illegal. they're allowed (and

supposed) to inform you of any major interactions, but they may not deny you

medications prescribed by your doctor based on their own subjective judgement.

Norvir can increase peak blood level and total systemic exposure (duration of

effect) of both Viagra and Cialis by double, and can increase the peak of

Levitra by 13 times, and the total systemic exposure by up to 50 (fifty) times.

to my knowledge, all of these measurements are based on 600mg of Norvir twice a

day dosage. the lowest dose of Viagra is 25mg, n is equivalent to 5mg of Levitra

and Cialis. lesser doses should produce lesser boosting, and ultra-low-dose

versions of Cialis and Levitra (2.5) are specifically for people taking Norvir.

PDE-5/6 inhibitors are only contraindicated if ur taking them for pulmonary

arterial hypertension...NOT if ur taking them for erectile dysfunction.

frankly, i'm on Norvir 100mg 2x/day to boost my Prezista, and i'm prescribed

20mg Levitra tablets. i break them up into 6 even piece, at around 3mg each.

each piece lasts for a good two days, and my wood can punch holes in sheetrock.

i've had no issues, since i keep track of doses and never indulge poppers, as

doing poppers and ED drugs can easily kill you.

you need to go back to your pharmacy and show him the prescribing info for

Norvir.

I've read that you should half the dose, since Norvir boosts Viagra and thus

the side-effects also. It's also risky with some recreational drugs and may

boost some anti-depressants. I think the pharmacist should inform you of the

risk and argue with your doctor if they have an issue about prescribing it.

I'd be raising a ruckus, myself.

"While Norvir certainly can affect the metabolism of these drugs, by no means is that a contradiction to prescribing them together. You take a smaller dose.I would take the script to a different pharmacy. They are out of line.JB

It sure can.

I have a friend who goes to Mexico frequently. When I was complaining to him about the cost of ED drugs, he volunteered to bring back some for

me.

I tried Viagra, good, Cialis, not so good, then he brought back some Levitra. He bought 20MG because they were only a bit more expensive than the 5MG.

On my first tryout, I popped a whole one. I'm on Kaletra with a Norvir booster. It hit hard, but I withstood it for the evening. The next day I was still feeling a bit woozy. I decided to look up Levitra on the net, since all the paperwork that came with the pills was in Spanish. It stated that I should only be taking 2 1/2MG at a time. At the gym I related the tale and the trainer immediately took my blood pressure. I normally have a rather low pressure - last week at the doctor's office it was 107/63. At the gym it was 165/80. And that was almost 24 hours after I had taken the pill!

I didn't work out that day, and count myself lucky nothing really adverse happened to me.

So beware!
