Guest guest
My son was diagnosed with OCD when he was young. We had to use antidepressents for 2 1/2 years when it got out of control when he was 11. He is now 14 and has been off of the medication since last June and functioning well. We've done the therapist thing, but can't find anyone who seems to know anything. Mostly, it's been a big waste of money. Just this last week and a half, his OCD exploded. We have tried absolutely everything I've read in Tamar Chansky's book. Nothing is working. He is back on the medication, but it is not working yet and he is spending every day on the couch in the fetal position, white faced and occasionally groaning from being overwhelmed. He makes lots of noises with his mouth when he is trying to distract himself with tv or the computer. I find myself wondering if that part is OCD or Tourettes? Has anyone else experienced the noises thing? Have any of you had success with CBT? How long did it take before you had success? If you used a therapist, how in the world did you find one who knows what they are doing? He is having bouts of depression where he breaks down in tears. I find myself wondering if that is brought on by what he is going through, or if it's a side effect of the Celexa. I thought the worst of this was behind us. . . . I guess I was wrong.
