Guest guest
Good Morning All! We got a call from one of the nurses who works with the Dept of Welfare, Beckett Waiver. She was very nice and seemed to understand our predicament. BUT....she told me that we were going to have a very difficult time qualifying for the waiver because my children are not developmentally delayed. She said " the fact that your 6 year old daughter has tested above 3rd grade is going to stand in your way " . I thought....what the heck does a Beckett waiver have to do with cognitive ability....my children have a very expensive medical condition....I was soooooooo angry. She was very nice and said she was going to try to personally handle our case. She ended by saying there is some other part under the waiver called 'Pediatric Medical " something or rather....that we may be able to qualify under and went through a list of questions that would certainly indicate that we would....but she thinks we have a fight on our hands. Has anyone else had the experience of being denied public assistance for this because their child was too smart? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
