Guest guest
Simon, it is my 30 years plus experience plus personal experience AND the experience of professional pigeon racers (who sometimes spend as much as $50,000 on a single bird), that charcoal DOES take nutrients from the body. I am not sure what types or how much, only that it will make you very sick and weak if you are already depleted. A caution everyone should take note of that is seriously deficient. One could try grey water to start out cautiously. Grey water would be to mix a small amount of powdered charcoal in water and let it settle to the bottom and just skim off the top and drink the grey water etc.... Guest guest
Go get yourself a big fat pigeon supply catalogue and you will discover real quick that everything in there are the same products people take in vitamins, minerals, bacteria, and antibiotics. I would not be alive today had I not learned so much from the diseases of pigeons and applied things to myself. I have found NO differences in treating pigeons and people, none what so ever. NOT A FALSEHOOD. Every pigeon catalogue gives warning that if you let them eat charcoal it is ESSENTIAL that you also give them as much of the best vitamins and minerals that you can get. I am not saying that taking charcoal is bad, but I am saying it DOES LEECH everything from the body and is not particular or selective about it, though it does leech more of certain things than others like the bad stuff. Dr. Schultz found that when treating cancer patients with charcoal made for a much higher survival rate because it is so excellent for removing toxins. I discovered with my 17 year old pigeon that had pancreatic cancer for three years, that it kept him alive all that time (in addition to a few other goodies), but he was always very deficient even though I gave him tons of vitamins and minerals because he ate a LOT of charcoal and I did not have to encourage him to do so. I always kept a dish of charcoal chunks in his cage and he gorged himself on it daily instinctively knowing he needed it to rid himself of the toxins. MOST sick pigeons know enough to eat charcoal when they are sick, but if they are very sick, they will die if not given lots of vitamins and minerals. This has been a well known fact amoung pigeon fanciers for 100 years. LIke it or not, people are no different. Steph
