Guest guest
here is a great steel cut oats oatmeal recipe ! for stovetop cooking use 3:1 water :oats ratio. I use 2:1 water: oats when cooking them in the crockpot ......with good results. crockpot takes 50 minutes... stovetop about an hour... Before I figured out the crockpot makes excellent steel -cut oats type of oatmeal , I would, on an evening, boil water on the stove , dump in oats , turn off heat and clap on a lid. No cooking, no supervision, and the morning found my pot filled with perfectly edible oats . I also sometimes now will set a timer & plug in the crockpot, with oats and water inside, to the timer so that the oats start cooking an hour before we think we'll be waking up...stir in some raisins and some walnuts as soon as i get up --serve with soy or rice milk and maybe a little maple syrup to sweeten....
