Guest guest
Hey , My 2 year old son recently started SQIG after 1 year of IVIG every 2- 3 weeks. He was having bad reactions to the IVIG and was hospitalized many times afterwards. Now he does SQIG every week. I noticed that it made a difference on the numbing cream he used. He can use emla not Elamax. The site got bright red and raise everywhere the elamax was. Also, he is allergic to the tegaderm. We always pre~medicate with atarax and tylenol. He weighs around 29 pounds and gets 16mls or 8ml in 2 different sites. The first SQIG he got they gave him 15ml in one site. He had a huge potatoe size red lump. It looked horrible. His doctor sent a picture of it to the vivagloblin reps and they said that happens and maybe divide the dose up. A hot bath and warm pack brought the swelling down. By the next morning it was gone. So maybe switch numbing cream, premed with either benedryl or atarax, and try a hot pack during and after the infusion. Mom to 2 year old with a PID hypogamma with spec antib defic. newly suggested CVID and many other problems www.caringbridge.org/visit/matthewfranson > > My daughter had her SCIG today...she has welts like hives that itch all around her injection sites...she uses EMLA and vivaglobin, and an icepack while infusing. Has anyone had similar experience? She has been using SCIG since Sept with no problems until now. > > Thanks for any input! > > (mom to , 16, CVID, jspa, fibro, migraines) > > > --------------------------------- > Bored stiff?
