Guest guest
, As a mother, it is so hard to see our little ones hurt, but you are doing all you can right now. Does she have a fever? or swelling? There are so many things that children get to make them hurt and you can only take it one step at a time. Don't jump to conclusions, but even if it is Arthritis, you are catching it early and that should help Hope it is nothing but the normal childhood stuff. Guest guest
Hi , You are doing what a good mommy does...being concerned about your child, and feeling her pain. Hopefully it's not JRA, but, my friend, *if* it is...please know that not only is it being caught very early on, but there are many children living with this and thanks to modern medicine, living quite normal lives. My rhuemy at The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is a " pediactric Rhuematologist, " and we were talking about children with arthritis when I saw him in April. He commented that " much can be done to help them nowadays, and that is even more so when the child is seen early in the disease. Sad to say, not all parents are really " tuned in " to what their children tell them. Try to do something fun and not too tiring for the both of you to make the time pass until you know. Hugs from hot wisconsin! ~~tricia~~ ********************************************************** -- My daughter and arthritis? I am feeling very stressed right now. My 4 year old has been complaining of leg pain (off and on) for a year. last year they did a bunch of bloodwork which came back negative and it was chalked up to activity (running around etc.). This week she was having heartwrenching sobs that her legs hurt, she couldn't bend one finger, her wrist hurt, and then the next morning she told me her hands hurt. So of course this is bringing up all of these feelings in me that she shouldn't have to go through this, let it not be arthritis, etc. etc. She is not a complainer so if she says something hurts, it really does. She is going to the pediatrician Friday (she would have seen her today but her pain has subsided and I am not feeling so great. So the doc said it was fine to wait.) The doctor said she'd examine her and send her for bloodwork then to a rheumatologist next week. I just hope it is something easily cured. i guess I'm overly sensitive to it since I have this stuff myself. thank you for letting me share. Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter and I must say that it sounds like something is going on with her especially since it is more then one area that appears to be affected. If she is suffering from something for example arthritis, I do hope that the doctors will be able to diagnose her soon and be able to begin the appropriate treatment to relieve her pain, etc. My thoughts are with you and your daughter as I know how worrying this must be for you. Guest guest
Dear Friends, I just want to say thank you so much for your words of support and comfort. I was feeling so stressed when I wrote that note, but I knew you guys would understand exactly where I was coming from. I am taking Ziesi (my daughter) to the pediatrician tomorrow and then for bloodwork. I also called my own rheumatologist whom I really trust to get a referral to a pediatric rheumatologist. I'll let you know what happens. Thank you again for being there and listening. Love,
Guest guest
Dearest , I am here for you friend, and I hear the stress in your voice. You have all the right to be concerned and have all the worrying...it's part about being the loving and caring mother that you are. I would do the same. I am hoping that's its some type of growing pains already. Just a thought and keeping my fingers crossed for you both friend. Please let us know what happens. We really care and want her to be okay. I love you friend, and wish that I could see you in Vegas next month. Thank for just being here for me also. I have truly missed you and our talks. I was just bragging to my mom about you yesterday. Love you and I am sending you a huge hug. Love. Sue #2 -- My daughter and arthritis? I am feeling very stressed right now. Guest guest
Wow! If you bragged to your mom about me today, now I really feel special. Thank you for your kind comforting words. The pediatrician saw her friday and referred her to a pediatric rheumatologist. she ordered blood work (lyme, Rhematoid factor, cbc, etc. but felt we should wait until she saw the rhemy in case she wanted to add more bloodwork (so my daughter would only have to get pricked once). The problem is the pain comes and goes so when the doctor sees her there is no pain or stiffness or swelling. The ped. said it could still be growing pains and i'm sort of willing to accept that. But this week it was also her wrists and finger involved and i didn't like that at all. this just brings up bad memories in me as a child because I had similar problems that nothing really was done for. when I turned 17 I was told by the doctors that I was a hypochondriac. Finally, they did more testing and realized that my knees and ankles and hips were swollen and/or stiff and that I had meningitis and they diagnosed with me with having LYme. (Of course that was a very popular diagnosis at that time.) It was a really yucky situation. I knew I was sick. thank G-d, my parents believed me (it is hard to look at a kid who can't move too well and is running a fever and tell them there is nothing wrong. Luckily I had really bright parents who protected me and took to the right doctors until we got the problems identified. So I guess I feel doubly that I have to protect ziesi and make sure she is seeing the right doctors. The doc we're supposed to see is on vacation through Labor Day. but her office manager is trying to get her to see Ziesi the day she returns since Ziesi starts school the following day and I hate to pull her out of school the first week or two. I hope this is making sense. It is after 3:00 so I finally took an Ambien so I could try and sleep. however, my thought processes are not what they should be. Enough about me...how are you feeling? How is you family coping? sons? Mom/ etc. Be good to yourself. I'm thinking if we can get ourselves to feel well enough we should pick a school day when we have no kids home and each drive halfway to meet each other. Crazy? I don't know...but fun....I was thinking I should change my daugther's charna's surgery so I could go, but i think I can't get the low-cost rooms anymore. Kind of blew it! OKay, I'll write more when I make some sense. Loveyou!
