Guest guest
I recieved a call today from the oncologist and the results came back from the bone marrow biopsy and they were negative for myeloma. I still have to go back to him on the 4th of September. I have not recieved the results from the skeletal survey yet nor the 24 hour urinalysis. So the dragon has been bearable the last week. No flares thank good. I went to go see an new rhuemy and she wanted me to come off the prednisone so she can see how bad the swelling gets in my joints and come see her in 4 weeks. I think I will continue to see my regular Rheumy. I am still on my plaqenuil, darvacet, prednisone, ativan. I again this time around will talk to my rheumy about mtx or humira. I dont feel as to I am getting the results from the Plaqenuil. Thanks all for the support you have been giving me and it is good to know that I am not alone. Thanks for the kindness and wishes.May everyone be pain free. Best Wishes All, Dennis Brock

Guest guest
Hey Dennis So glad your report came back negative from the oncology dept. I'm not sure if I would be looking forward to " seeing how bad the swelling gets " , but maybe it would help with your meds schedule. Best wishes Heidi Oncologist Update I recieved a call today from the oncologist and the results came back from the bone marrow biopsy and they were negative for myeloma. Guest guest
Hi Dennis, I tried Plaquenil and it did not work for me, but it has for others. Maybe you should look into other medications and give them/it a try. I am on Enbrel and MTX and I find that combo to help me a lot. I'm so happy to read that your bone marrow results were negative and I hope the rest turn out good also. I hope that new Rheumatologist doesn't want you to come off of Prednisone completely if you are on a heavy dose. That could be dangerous. I don't recall the daily dose you are taking. Do you have lab reports from months ago that show your inflammation, before you started Prednisone? If so, I'd show them to your new Rheumatologist. I was on a very heavy dose (60mgs) for a bit and weaned off to 20mgs and was on that for quite a while and then decided to lower it little by little myself. I am now on 1/2mg and will stop completely the end of this month. I did it very slowly, a mg. a month and I think that is how I could end taking it. It was a wonderful drug for me but we all know the terrible things it can do to our body. I'm very glad to be off of it. You are feeling pretty good now so maybe this is a start of remission for you. I sure hope so and wish you better health. Mi. Carmen
Guest guest
Dennis, I am soo happy to hear the bone marrow turned out good.. I hope the other tests do as well.. Can't your Rhuemy send reports to the new one, so you don't have to go completly off the prednisone and risk another flare? I am glad to hear that you are feeling somewhat better, and hope that you stay feeling that way.. What does your Rhuemy say about coming off the prednisone completly? Stay well my friend, and know that we are thinking about you. Kelley in Colorado
Guest guest
Hi Dennis, Thank you for sharing the results of that bone marrow test. Happy the results came back as " negative! " Is your present rhuemy willing to let you try something else such as the MTX? I had one who wouldn't " allow " me to try any meds that I thought might help me to feel better, so after having him for a doctor for amost 15 years, and being sick allt hat time, I changed doctor's. I don't think I would have ever done so without reading how others in this support group had " fired " doctor's that weren't giving them the help they needed. So, if you are satisfied with your present rhuemy, and he agrees with you to try different meds. it might be worth it to stay...otherwise...maybe not. Hoping your results from your other tests are good ones!
