Guest guest
, what do you know about HLH and this Perforin/Granzym B test? 's BMB showed what I wrote below (along with other stuff.) anyway..his P/G B test was abnormal (see below) and it said on the sheet to test for HLH and the PRF1 mutational analysis. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/vol6no6/fisman.htm This is so weird. 's BMB/BMA had this odd stuff about stuffed cells. I thought it was very odd, but kind of blew it off.. It says under BMA, " There are a few scattered macrophages which are often stuffed with engulfed cells including mononuclear cells, nucleated RBC and neutrophils as well as cell debris. " Under BMB is says, " that there are mild increase of histiocytes/macrophages with notable hemophagocytosis. " So-I wasn't even looking up BMB stuff. 's Perforin/Granzym B test came back abnormal (different than the counts I mentioned earlier) It says under the abnormal flag, " Proportion of the NKT cells expressing perforin is decreased. The MCF of perforin expression in NK cells is decreased. Recommend PRF1 mutational analysis if patient has symptoms of HLH. " So I do a search under HLH and found the link above-look what pops up, but that those things noted in his bone marrow would be present. I started reading and thought to myself, " Hmmmm, I think I read that on his bone marrow report. " Sure enough... how weird is that!? Apparently HLH is rare, too. I can't wait to hear what Dr. says about this. Maybe it is nothing, but the fact that the NK cell tests were abnormal and he has the stuff in his bone marrow.
